Ok everyone on facebook is talking about this website Pinterest and when I have gone there its like people post pictures and you comment on it. Is that right? What is it all about?
It's a virtual bulletin board. You pin things from around the web that you like, and you can make categories to organize them, and then others can see it and like it or repin it for themselves. It's kinda like a favorites list...in pictures.
Just what Birbitt said, it's a virtual pinboard. I use it to find new recipes and craft ideas, but I'm not nearly into it as some people!
I have found some cool homeschooling ideas on there too. Mostly I just look at it for recipes and the home decorating ideas. I have found myself getting quite addicted.
I've been on Pinterest for nearly two years now. It's starting to become overwhelming, though!! Which is fun because it's so full of amazing ideas, but it's also a bit crazy. I love it because I'm a visual person and I love SEEING my internet bookmarks vs. reading them. I use it like a visual bookmarking tool. I love being able to scroll through my recipe board and see which recipes I have in seconds vs thinking "now what in the world is that recipe again?!" ha. I've gotten tons of recipes, craft ideas, some clothing inspiration, inspiration for my house, and a few homeschooling ideas courtesy of Pinterest.
It's like clipping ideas/recipes from magazines, only it's online. I have found so many great ideas. I love it!
PM me your email addresses, and I'll invite you. You can request and invite, but it takes longer than a personal invite.
Kris, I sent you an invite through Facebook. Let me know if it didn't work. Pinerest has some kinks. The invite box popped up like 12 times.
Pam you are so sweet. Ok I check it out when I get on facebook. Is it hard to move around and get to know. Or can you teach old dog new tricks. LOL
Don't worry about the followers. Most are probably facebook friends. It just means they see what you pin. Basically, you search for anything -recipes, crafts, decorating ideas, DIY projects. When you find something you like, you pin it (there is a repin option to make it easier) onto one of your boards. There are preset ones, but you can change and add. If you download the "pin it" button for you toolbar, you can "pin" anything you find online that you want to save (sort of like your favorites or bookmarks, but with pictures).
Pinterest is an online photo –sharing social media platform that allows users to post, organize and share pictures of things they are interested in.
Kris, just take care not to let your kids look over your shoulder while on there. I've seen quite a bit of nudity in there---- it's not allowed, but people post it anyway. You can report it, and the picture goes away; however, you can't unsee what's been seen. Plus, there's a lot of bad language on some of the boards. Some boards are relatively safe; at least, I haven't seen nudity in the food, education, or pets boards. I enjoy Pinterest, but I make sure my kids are away while I'm sifting through it.
I am on it but have stopped because I cannot find the How Tos to some of the recipes or craft ideas. I have a board and have followers but I am not sure what they are following because I tend to get lost on the site. Then it linked to FB and everything I thought I saving went to FB. I haven't been back on it for awhile now.
