Okay so my DD8 talks to her grandparents and her daddy on the phone but what about friends? We did have a phone call from a friend at school back in '06 when she was in school and we said no because we just thought she was too young. Now her 2 friends (sisters) want to talk on the phone with her. They live nextto my parents so she cannot just go visit. Is 8 to young for phone talk? They all exchanged addresses before we left. We have their # since we didn't have a # yet.

I've let my kids call there friends (3 1/2 & 5 1/2)---quite honestly I've never considered that they were too young. Generally they say a couple things and then either say good-bye and hang up or hand the phone to me and I chat with the friends mom for a minute before hanging up. I think it helps them with communication skills and manners, something I find that is never too early to work on. You can put a time limit on the calls and also set some ground rules, no calls before x:00 or after x:00. You could aslo explain to your dd that it is a privilege and can lose it if she does not follow the rules.

Mine personally don't but just because they don't have any friends of that age range they want to call. Now if I was in your situation then I wouldn't have a problem. I would probably set a limit of so many minutes to start with.
