I'm curious, right now, I mostly teach 2 little boys first grade and I also do (or plan to start doing) "elective" type subjects, such as Spanish Conversation, Arabic Reading and Comp. Tech with a 3rd grade girl...

I really do love teaching reading but I prefer to teach on a more intimate basis, as in 1-1 or 1-3 so I'm sure I'd hate to be a classroom teacher.

But I love sharing the things I'm passionate about or interested in, (langauges and Comp. Tech) also, but seeing as how I've been playing the "secondary" teacher for my students for the past few months, (actually, secondary is an exaggeration.) I didn't teach much this past semester. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things and this coming semester I want to better balance my teaching along with my own learning (I'm a college student.)

Anyway, I was just wondering, what is everyones favorite subject, or grade or subject by grade to teach.

I like teaching reading to student who dont know how and anything of interest to anyone with an attention span.

    Hmm... interesting question.

To be honest, my favorite subject to learn and discuss is English.

    But... I love teaching math.

I think a lot of it is because it's EASY for dd. Except for the money bit  everything else has been SOOOO fast for her to learn. I guess I could say that about history as well, but not much would make that interesting to me.

The reading thing.. I was initially excited about as well, but so much of it for us right now is overcoming her phobia that I've really had to ramp back my excitement to non-existence. We celebrate every success, but she could be learning SOOOOO much more if her confidence was better. And that's hard for me. I know her potential, but she doesn't. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had more than one student, or more experience under my belt :) With only one, and my first, everything feels so infinitely personal, and there's probably a bit of micro-managing going on that I don't even see.

Math and science are my favorite subjects to teach. My BA is in History, and I only minored in Biochemistry after deciding I'd rather be a teacher than a pharmacist.

    I hate teaching reading.

Oddly, I think my favorite is a class full of middle schoolers learning various types of sciences. I really enjoy middle school. Otherwise, I think my favorite is a class full of 4 year olds learning pretty much any subject.

One on one, I enjoy teaching English, how to play musical instruments, and to some extent, math and cursive writing.

I like learning and teaching American History and English.

    I enjoy teaching 3-6th grade.

I dislike teaching reading. It's too tedious for me. That's why I like 3-6th grade. They can already read and you can focus on discussions, projects and fun things.

My second worst subject to teach is Math (starting in 5th grade).

This past year my favorites were Science, American History & poetry. I never liked science before but his year Gracie just loved it which made it fun for me to teach. At first I didn't like teaching American History until I realized how much she retained. She began to really enjoy adding to her My America binder and I can't wait to continue with our history spine next year. We both just love poetry.

My favorites are literature and history. I love how history can connect to everything else we are learning.

Like many of the others, my absolute Fav is preK-4, and American History, followed closely by Science.

Not sure, since my kids are mostly just doing stuff at a Pre-K level, because they're only 4, but I love this age/grade/whatever, because they're so happy and active and they get so excited when they learn something new, I love it. As for a favourite subject, I imagine it'll be Science, at least when we learn about animals and such. Ember loves animals (DH's parents have a farm, I'm sure Ember would live there if she could lol), Raychel does too, but I imagine Raychel will be easier to teach than Ember in other areas, whereas Ember will probably trump Raychel in Life Science. (Or Animal Science, whatever you call it.)

My favorite people to teach are usually 9-12 year olds. They're old enough and know enough to "do stuff" but young enough to still think maybe you really do know everything! Actually, I kind of prefer teaching almost anybody to PreK-K'ers (except for my grands, of course!!!). They're all over the place and they don't really know anything yet. It only takes one active one of that age to overwhelm me totally, but if they're a calm and charming child I'm much better!!! My favorite "stuff" to teach would be anything language arts - but I can do history, science, Bible, math, whatever.

I love history too Jackie :) And I also love teaching them topics of interest for them and learning with them. Last year Ds and I covered Numismatics (coin collecting), and we started an ongoing Robotics class which is also very interesting. I am currently trying to think of a ongoing class to start with DD, five, she loves art and fashion design so I may try to go in that direction with her. Which is definitely a topic I will love too. I get lost in our two story fabricland for hours looking at fabrics lol

So far the older the better. I love my youngest. He is so cute and such a cuddle-bug but I can't wait until I don't have to do everything for him. I love when they start coming up with their own ideas and can hold their own in a discussion. I can't wait to get to more interesting things. I love anything that is not drill. We are very discovery oriented. I have found computers useful for anything drill related. I so dread teaching phonics again. UGH!

I enjoyed teaching preschool through grade 4 or 5 the most. The older kids can work more on their own, so I can get more done in less time. I do miss teaching the little ones though. They were like little sponges.

I love to teach history, not sure why maybe because it lets us go through stories and find out how things where, I like to dress the part too, though I admit I did not do enough of this in the younger hs years.
Bible too of course, but I also like teaching writing as it is one of my favorite things.

    Art is also fun though!

Worse to teach? Algebra 1 and 2~
