I'm not sure I can remember all it right, but here's ours:

    DS, age 11
Sixth grade ACE Curriculum for math, science, English, Lit and Writing, Word Building, Social Studies

    DS, age 9
Fourth grade ACE Curriculum for math, science, English, Lit and Writing, Word Building, Social Studies

    DS, age 6
Christian Liberty Nature Reader and science, CLP Adventures in Phonics, Noah Webster's Reading Handbook, Hooked on Phonics 1st grade, McGuffey Readers, Modern Curriculum Press math A, Learn At Home 1st grade for language arts and social studies

We have a vocabulary word of the day, Latin/Greek once or twice a week, and I have made a "gridiron geography" sheet for the boys to follow with their favorite football teams (they learn about the state of the team they are playing). We have a geography lesson a day for oldest two, but I need to find a history lesson we enjoy. The boys are in a choir class twice a week, oldest son has an outside piano teacher, youngest two are in piano lessons with me. They also have typing lessons (I'd like to find a computer lesson plan for the oldest soon.) and do flashcards in spelling and math on the computer. Rewards are time on the computer for games like Magic School Bus and Carmen Sandiego.

PE we have covered with county rec dept sports, plus outside practice of basketball and soccer, etc. We also use a "Get Fit for Kids" video for exercise class when it is nasty out. I'd love to get the Taebo for kids tape for Christmas!

We have been trying to fit in a Spanish lesson once a week, and sign language once a week also. I also have the boys keep a journal, we try to write to a penpal each month, and we have creative writing prompts from Scholastic. The boys get "God's World News" every week for current events. Right now arts and crafts are a collage of things I find everywhere- Thomas Kinkaid's program looks interesting!

Okay, that's what I can think of at the moment. I am working on getting the plan done for us to do a unit on Lewis and Clark, so that is what I am doing at night. I also keep a log of what we have done, and I finish that up at night.

We have used AO lifepaks mostly alone for the full 11 years, this year we have one student doing 2 classes in SOS, and one doing all of them and they are managaing quite well to do it on one computor. We had them split one on lap top and one on main computor but the lap top had some keyboard problems and I loaded it up on the other computor then. For now it means one is doing reading or PE type things during the time his sister is doing the two classes she has on SOS, the other onces are Life Paks as well so she does those while brother does his five classes on SOS.
Personally, I am finding all five classes is TOO MUCH! Sos is best if you only have a few classes in it. I think next year we will do science and either math or History on SOS and then do the other ones in work books. I may get really creative next year and try some of the new things I hve learned about here!
Hope I helped to encourage you in SOS, cause it really is great for some classes! The kids love it but ds9 gets frustratied at typing Sooooo Muuuccch , grin.
    Be blessed!

I have heard so much about Bill Nye. We finally saw one of his videos not too long ago, I think on body systems. I didn't like it AT ALL! It just jumped from one thing to another and was too disjointed for me. I don't think my kids got anything from it. I really like the Schesslinger (sp?) videos. I've seen their Ancient Civilizations, American Government, science.... All of them are very well done. Again, there's evolution built into some of them, but that's to be expected.

National geographic for Kids has a web site, probably by that name or similar that has lots of stuff for kids.
Jackie I agree with you that evolution seems to be in everything but that just gives us a chance to discuss how it is a theory, and that a theory is only an idea. ALso to explain that the originator of that theory got saved after his theory got published so that even he did not believe that anymore.
It has in the past opened up conversations of how we have to keep our morals and our honesty in all of our work because it could come against us.

T'mom, for the record, Darwin accepting Christ may not be true. I'm including a link for Institute for Creation Research, which is a very reputable organization. The article was written by Dr. Morris, a renown Creation scientist. http://www.icr.org/article/2834/

I also taught my kids the evolutionary belief system. They need to be knowledgable about what is believed by many people. It is also a prime opportunity to showcase why it has absolutely no solid evidence to back it up.

As far as I know, the Darwin conversion story is not true.

I know its debatable, but the main point I was making is it brought up some things bout being carful of what you say because even though God knows our hearts we are known by our fruits. Whether or not he was 'saved' he is known for his foolish theory.
When we know Christ we need to be sure we are showing that in our lives, even the fact that it may be debated shows he was not doing that.
Its a great topic to get your kids thinking on what fruits they are showing.
And Thanks for the link! we get a news letter from them I think, myhubby does. Or did? Anyway thanks!

Yes, I see what you mean. He was that way for the negative. We discussed something similar to the positive when we read about Amy Carmichael, a missionary to India, around the turn of the century. It turned out that the area she was at in India is the same are where an Indian missionary we support works. We discussed that it's possible that Pastor Stephens is a believer today because of what Amy did 100 years ago. Of course, we will never know for sure, but what we do for the Lord NOW will have long-term consequences that we will never begin to comprehend.

Yep! We will probably know when we go to heaven ourselves, thats a waiting thing but hey at least we will see!
I heard once that people will be amazed at three things when they "die and go to heaven"
    - One who IS there
-two who is not there that you were so sure knew!
    - thirdly, that you are there!
    God is awesome!
    Jesus Rules!
OOP, I better be quiet a bit as this is the homeschool, not christian thread line, eh? Hope it was okay , just sharing a bit.
Btw, I got a great devotional from dollar tree for my kids! They are on obedience and on self control!
My ds9 wrote his name in one to claim it! The one on obedience! He said, the other one I put sisters name in because she needs self control! haha!
    cute?
Works good for Bible curriculuim if anyone needs it! ONly a dollar!

I agree with you on Bill Nye's format regarding it's quick pace, but I think that's what makes it so interesting!

If you get the chance, try another of his programs on simple machines, frictions, phases of matter, or other similar topics. He makes complicated concepts tangible, fun, and easy. I thought I hated Chemistry and Physics all of my life. But after watching Bill Nye, I realize how much I LOVE Physics and can at least comprehend Chemistry basics.

I probably will give him another try sometime. I do know that, just because one isn't very good, another might be great.
