What do you do when it's 2am, you're still up, and your 10 yo, somewhat hyperactive, never gonna get to sleep if he can't quit worrying about his halloween costume cause 'I'm going to Grandma's tomorrow then it will be trick or treat and what am I gonna wear mom?' comes downstairs (after an hour of searching for said costume) and alas, begins a slightly sleep-deprived nervous breakdown about "its full of holes! and now I can't wear it and arrghuuuhh allaahhgggg" (One hole.. mind you)... and you homeschool? (L! O! L!).. Step one- Remove staples placed in a 10 yo's attempt to fix the hole.. Step two- giggle.. smile (repeat as necessary).. Step three- sew the hole.. lol Guess I should have posted this in the house and home forum.. sorry..
OH my. LOL My sympathies to you, lady. It is now 20 til 4am here, and I've just finished watching Peter Pan for the fourth time today and put in 101 Dalmations. Little Brandon is now finally on his way to sleep. One of these days we will find the best solution to my preschooler's insomnia. In the meantime, sounds like you were able to be at least semi-calm at a horrible time and solve the problem to quell a meltdown. Your little green light (to show if you're online now or not) is off, so I assume all's well again. Kudos to you, Momma. I'm not able to sew holes up like that.
at 2am? oh man, i love my kids but i am so not repairing halloween costumes at 2 in the morn--i mean middle of the night! and 4am? i've sometimes gotten UP for the day at that hour.
I'm a meanie lol. I'd tell him to go to bed and stop worrying about it or he wouldn't be GOING trick or treating.
Awww! You all are so kind and supportive. Thank you! Lol~ I couldn't have used the "you won't go trick or treating if.. " for the sewing b/c I already used that to get him to do his schoolwork... sighs.. lol. It was actually pretty cute because he had that "wow.. Mom is not sending me to bed" dazed look in his eyes.. so cute! lol.
lol.. I know exactly where you are coming from.. and I too would have been sitting there sewing just so maybe I could go to bed in an hour or two!
Yes you sure are a sweet mommy..Id be like "get your butt back into that bed" and would have left the hole, if not that bad..just because.LOL
I'm not sure what I would've done. It would probably depend on what I was already doing. If it was a night like last night, where I was busy with something, I would probably tell the kids to go back to bed. If I was watching a movie or doing something I wasn't really invested in, I'd probably fix it. Both my kids have trouble sleeping, so I'm used to telling them that they have to be quite in the middle of the night, because dh has to get up at 4:30 am. Usually they stay upstairs & play.
You are a nicer mommy than me at 2am! Kudos to you! Oh you cats....I saw in your sig...LOL...oh my....that is funny.
You're so lucky! You have a mute cat. I'd love for mine to be mute. They're the most annoying cats I've ever owned, especially the male. He's bulimic & never shuts up, so I spend half my day telling the cat to be quiet and cleaning up cat puke. Yuk!
I was going to say the other mom was nice, and still can...You're nice! I'd be too sleepy to thread the needle as well! But NOW I'm saying that you're nicer than me, Brandi, cuz I'd be getting rid of that cat right NOW! I couldn't handle doing that every day!!!
The cat has some problems. He's been my dh's cat for years. A roommate that dh once had, threw the cat into the wall a few times. I don't know if that has anything to do with the bulimia, or not. The cat has the grace and balance of a drunken bull, and I KNOW that's due to being thrown into the wall. I feel sorry for him. He irritates me and whenever possible I have dh clean up after him. But I know he's had it hard. He was a stray when dh got him, so who knows what he went through. I guess I just have a soft spot for animals that have been mistreated or led hard lives. When I was growing up, we had six cats. All of them were strays, and almost every one of them had some problem or issue when we found them. One had a broken hip and thought he was a dog (he used to howl at sirens & I swear I heard him bark). Two were scared of their own shadows. One had an abcess (I know I spelled that wrong) that had basically exploded. One was pregnant. We don't know if there was anything really wrong with her, but all 4 kittens died (in less than a year) of birth defects (missing organs). We also brought in a stray dog that may have been abused. So, I guess I just have that weak spot for animals with problems. Every animal I've ever owned had some wierd issue, and I think only one of them died of old age (all the others ended up with cancer or seizures or some other disease).
2 a.m.! No, not in this house! LOL A good clonk over the head and a "get your booty back ta bed" woulda happened here (just kidding of course). No, not good losing sleep. Not good at all. What a nice mommy you are!
