Besides school and chores what does your child do since they are home all day?

How about on days that you are home all day. We are home all day at least 3 days a week.

Legos, legos, and more legos. They are often multi-tasked with TV, book on cd, etc. That is actually the phrase my son used...he said, I like to multi-task when I play legos. He does also like video games, free time with craft supplies and a book on cd, turning food boxes in the recycle bin into armor and swords, and board games.

Well first I spend a few hours a day beating them and locking them in closets, I then duct tape their mouths and tie them to chairs in front of the television.

No not really. They play games, play with toys, read, play outside, go for walks, ride bikes, play in the weight room (even the 2 year old suddenly loves to punch the punching bag things down there).

We have 15 acres of our own land, their nana has 50+, and all of that is on the edge of 500+ that is all family owned and loaded with woods and farm critters. We also boarder several thousand acres of state lands that is all forest. We are never at a loss for something to do.

Legos, lincoln logs, cars, more legos, puppets, pretend to be Indiana Jones, erector set, legos, beg to watch cartoons, pretend to be horses and give their brothers rides (oy), legos, play outside, dig, ride bikes, chat up the lady in the post office, attempt to surreptiously check out city hall while I talk with the city secretary, legos, beg to play with neighbor kids OH YEAH school's not out yet, make half of tonight's dessert and wander off, chat up egg delivery lady/man/whoever, legos, throw all stuffed animals all over their room, argue pertinent universal issues (like where each was born, whether Dr. Else Schneider is a good guy or bad guy well not a guy ykwim), measure things with their feet, eat lunch, ask for snacks, stock the fermentation cabinet with spring water, put away legos, watch Stargate Atlantis after dad gets home (for some reason, we must watch one episode a day. Thank goodness for Netflix.), hammer scrap (I hope) wood with nails they found on the floor of the shed, build a tree house (thank goodness for medical insurance), plant, water plants, beg to play in water, pester lawn man, practice their golf swing (really).

Now, left to their own devices, they would watch TV, play wii, play computer games, eat, and MAYBE play with Legos. But I only allow about 15 min of computer and 15 min of wii per boy M-F (over the entire week, not per day). They get plenty of that on weekends.

Mine read for pleasure which thrills me to death! They play with the dogs or cats and with each other. They ride bikes or swing on our huge swing set. Sometimes they get on the trampoline and make up games or just bounce. They go visit my sister who lives on our street or sometimes they just hang out in their bedrooms and daydream. They always find something to do because if they don't, I will!

Also legos here! Some reading, some computer, occaaaaaaaaaasionally (when super good), the older one can play Lego Star Wars on Xbox. Mostly, just whatever they want. We're also not usually home all day.

When we are home, the kids help around the house and with the outside chores. They play ball, disc golf, walk, ride bikes, facebook, wii, youtube and ds15 has taken up free running (similar to parkour). We also shop, visit friends, hunt, fish, garden, etc. There is never a dull moment.

    Hmmmm....

    All sorts of stuff! :)

My oldest likes to cook/bake, do art, play on the computer, watch a movie, etc.

My middle does legos until he's blue. No seriously, he'd give up breathing before he'd give up legos.

My youngest plays. Of course, her schooling only takes about an hour, so she plays A LOT.

They also like to read. Not unusual for each kid to be sitting somewhere quiet in the house, reading. :)

My son builds crossbow or shoots at targets or goes to the creek or hangs out with his family or friends or watches TV and sometimes plays video games. The only thing I need to have him cut back on is TV time, which isn't all that bad (especially since he watches things about history a lot).

They read! (To point I have to take the book out of their hands sometimes.)

They play legos, build with blocks, chase each other around, and play outside. (We have several HS families on this street.)

One journals a great deal too.

They are required to do a certain amount of chores. But mostly it is dishes and keep the kitchen and large family areas clean.

Spend all day outside, or play in basement or their playroom if its too hot/cold...
Dont have tv (I mean any channels), so dvds and video games are allowed on a privelege basis...
Its amazing how imaginative children can be!

My kids are outside playing 99% of the time it's nice enough outside to do so. Unfortunately, living where we do, that doesn't happen nearly as often as they'd like. When not playing outside, they read, play video games (Wii, PS3, DS, iPod Touch... we're a gaming family, what can I say?), play with toys, make up imaginary games, make Crazy Forts, watch tv/movies. Just typical kid stuff.

We spend a good portion of our day in school, but outside of school my boys play or read. Play might involve mucking around with a sibling, computer games, Wii, playing outside, art, watching fish, or playing with Legos. They are pretty predictable. One guy gravitates toward reading after computer time is not an option and the other toward Legos and art.

Legos here too! And if we head to the mall, it HAS to be the one with the Lego store! Or, they are outside jumping on the trampoline, playing basketball, or having "camp-outs" in the backyard fort.

If the weather is horrible and they are going stir-crazy, they'll pull out the Wii, play board games, or turn my kitchen into a chaotic mess concocting some weird smoothie combinations in the blender!

My girl on turned 5 this April so she plays for most of the day, by herself or with her sister or with the kids I look after. Her play involves roleplaying, reading, following me about, mobilo, creating games. She goes outside and plays on her bike, trampoline, slide, swing, monkebars and climbing frames. She kicks and throws balls around or hunts bugs, makes fairy houses or checks her garden plants. She goes to her gran's and plays there too. Her tv time is very limited because the more she watches the worse her behavour gets. Her computer access is even more limited because we don't own one.
