We have the Awana program at our Bible church.

When it comes to finding a church you need to ask to look at their beliefs, philosophies and doctrine. Every church should have a doctrine statement and you should be able to look at it. Ask a pastor for a handout of one. It's a "handbook", in a way, for the church. It tells you what they believe, don't believe, and why!!! Make sure they are quoting scripture in their doctrines...if not, they are not going by the Bible and that is not good!

People choose different denominations, or non-denominations for many reasons. We choose a Bible church because it is just that...Bible based. We don't have extra doctrine outside of the Bible like other denominations might. Every church is different even within the same denimonation so it's best to go by each individual church, not always nec. just the denomination itself, unless there is one that you just know you wouldn't like. Me personally, I don't like the Catholic church. No offense, but I just think there is way more extra doctrine that is not neccessary. However, a good friend of mine loves the Catholic church. That's where she feels at home.

Whatever you choose, it has to be what suites you and your family best, nobody else. Just make sure they are quoting scripture and that they are teaching from the Bible...meaning, the pastor/minister should be quoting and teaching from the Bible (Old and New Testament) while he is preaching.

    Maureen,

Just another thought in support of the others......

We happen to go to church on Saturday, since we believe God's word does not change (as Jackie was saying) and that IS one of the commandments in Exodus. I LOVE my church! My best friend here goes to a denominational church and she loves her church! After all that has been said, and now this, it just goes to show that there are an overwhelming amount of things to consider, and Satan would love for you to be confused and frustrated about it all! So my point is, that I agree with those that said to pray about it and give it to God. You've done your homework, you're serious about this, so I know God will lead you to the right place! It's so good to see you searching and all the helpful answers these ladies have given! As I said, I know God will lead and bless you! I will be praying for you also!
