What's the best thrift or garage sale deal you've found?

Hmmm...almost everything I buy comes from a thrift store! LOL. My pre-teen daughter was thrilled to have picked up a Hollister sweater for 50 cents yesterday, and I got two pairs of Mephisto and a pair of Merrell shoes all for $6. All of my son's Knex have come from a thrift store for no more than $3, and most of our board games and puzzles are thrift store finds. I can't remember my best purchase because there have been so many!

Oh, these aren't exactly thrift store buys, but freecycle/craiglist...I got our dining room table and 8 chairs for free, and our sitting room sofa for $50. Those would have to be my favorite finds.

 

I think my best was a find at a yard sale a few years ago. I found a box of Thomas wooden trains for 20.00, and they were mostly Thomas brand trains and a lot of them were ones we didn't have. I snapped it up. Took it home sorted out the ones we didn't already owned and listed the rest on craigslist. I sold what was left in the box for 20.00 there by getting about a dozen new to us Thomas brand trains completely free. :lol: Best deal ever.

 

I just keep finding all sorts of great stuff at the Salvation Army and Goodwill thrift stores. The other day I picked up a case of around two dozen Wilton decorating tips for $2.

 

I bought 5, 1942 Dick and Jane books for $1 total. I was SUPER excited since I use these books to teach my oldest how to read. We also found a double stroller for $10 in great condition!
