I plan on starting soon, just not sure of exactly when. When do you plan on starting or when did you start? Is there a reason behind it or just because?
September 3rd. Yes, I know that's Labor Day. I meant to start us on the 4th, but I put the wrong date in everything. And unless I rewrite 3 months worth of lesson plans, we'll be a 'day behind' right from the start. And... we don't really do anything "for" Labor Day, so no big deal.
We start back up on Monday. I spent yesterday afternoon getting every thing together and the plan written out. It felt so strange since we have been done since May.
We started Monday. We took today off though. I'm working off of a four day week. That's what I'm telling myself. But we take most of December off from most things so I start kinda early.
We started this week. Wanted to start last week but did not get ready in time. It was my plan to start the week the second child got back from camp. It was for the better that we did not start last week. THey spent the week comparing notes on there different weeks at the same camp ( different age groups). I want to trend along with the regular school year a bit more closely. My eldest student is at an age where a transition to a regular school might occur and I want to have her on the same schedule. We are also using more traditional textbooks this year to this end.
We start a week from today. First I look at my calendar, and mark off Labor Day, a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, and a week and a day for Easter. Then I call the last weekday (or the last Friday, if the 31st is a Monday or Tuesday) Day #180, and count backwards from there. When I get to 1, that's our start day. Sometimes I have to kind of jimmy it around a day or two so that they aren't getting report cards on the day before a holiday break.
We started Friday August 10th. We were going to start on Monday the 13th. but I like doing a trial day and then having the weekend to adjust anything that needs it. We follow our local school schedule for starting and stopping (because my kids have cousins that are in PS and they like to play with them during the summer). But we don't take off nearly as much for each holiday as the school system does (a week for Thanksgiving & Mardi Gras-we are 45 min. from New Orleans LOL, 2 weeks for Christmas & Easter) We do take off days when we have something planned like field trips or long weekends with daddy. So it all evens out to 36 weeks/180 days. Which coinsides with our curriculum.
We start Aug 27th... I planned my calender out at the beginning of the summer then we moved.. so I adjusted it to were we don't have so many off days .. but we will still end by the end of May... I am ready to get started..
We are finishing up our 2nd week- and next week will be our first full week- with everything! We have worked up to a full schedule and my main reason for starting 2 weeks ago- we've had icky weather, but this week was nice so we took it a little easy!
We follow the local school district's schedule. (to a T) So we start back on Sept 5. 2 Reasons: 1. 2-3 of my children take a class at the local school. (WA state history and then Keegan has a disability and he goes in 1 hour day for "extra help". ) 2. We aren't true "Homeschoolers" we do a virtual academy. We have to check in once a week and do monthly reviews. (Though it is flexible and we can take a week off if we want.) We've already started Math though........Everything else will start on Sept. 5th.
We started Monday. The district here started the week before, but we went out of town for the week. We loosely follow the public school, with much more flexibility and more of a year round schedule.
We started Monday (13th). I always wait until the week after VBS ends. The sooner we get started, the more time we have to get off track without carrying over into summer the following year. I prefer to be finished with everything by Memorial Day, and still have 4-5 weeks off throughout the year.
I'm hoping to start on Aug. 27th, but am still trying to round up a few books (inexpensively!). If I haven't gotten them yet, we'll probably just start with what we've got, and add in when I can get the other books.
I planned to start September 3rd just because I like starting the first Monday of that month. We are going to start this Monday instead because my sons have been begging me to start for a month now and I have finally caved.
J wants to finish school and get on to the military, so we started up early. We've been going about 3 or 4 weeks, now.
We start the 1st week of July because it's so hot in GA we get some book work done during the hotter weather then when all the poor PS kids are stuck inside int he nice fall weather we are outside enjoying it! (Plus it helps my OCD to have half our days finished by the end of December)
