I can't just wrap them and put them under the tree because I currently reside with a massively fast ball of curiosity, trapped in a toddler's body. I know every home and family is different, but I thought if you just each told me where or how you hide your gifts, I might stumble upon one I can use.
Our bedroom closet. Our kids NEVER go in there...we still put them high up and in unmarked boxes, etc.
In the basement hidden amongst the patio furniture and summer toys. Its in a corner they never go to. In the old house it was either high up in our closest or the back of the coat closet - it was really deep cuz it went under the stairs.
Our bedroom closet as well... my girls know they are not allowed in my room. Its a great hiding place for me.
Forgot to ask an important bit: How would you handle a large item? (They are jointly getting a go cart kit and some of the lumber is fairly long, so I expect the box will be huge).
I stash the smaller ones in my dh's car trunk. The larger ones I hide in the truck. That is the only place the kids won't go looking.
We have a closet in the laundry room. Stuff is usually piled up in front of it. I keep my curriculum in there so dd does not bother with it. If the item is really big we would probably put it in the garage with stuff pile over it or around it.
if you have a neighbor that would be trust worthy..... but I have been usig this very large box I've gotten from amazon and I keep puttig things in it and taping it up......... put the tapped seam down in the shelf in the closset. I've also used scholastic boxes too .......... let the kids see you put other stuff like old books or summer clothes in it....... then after bed switch out. ....... other hiding places, false bottom in the laundry basket (in our house we never see the bottom)........ sewing basket (thogh my kids cought on to that) POPCORN tin.... when the popcor is gone
we used to have a large box we kept in the shed when the kids were little believers...... lock and key kept them out.
Mama always hid things in the trunk of the car but we don't have a trunk. Love my van though. I used to hide things in my sewing room but the rascals found that spot. Now they are all older and we don't have to hide things. Those years go by so fast.
Tool box, up where the good china is, under the lawn tractor, in the trunk of hte car under that carpet platform (beware of freezing etc.) in the chicken coop, in the fire wood pile.
I put things in my closet. Like Krista, my kids never look. Carl will store things in his room in the basement. Faythe and I are cleaning house right now, and I had something that I wanted her to put in "Daddy's room" in the basement. She very quickly corrected me, lol. Carl had already told the kids that they need to stay out of his room until after Christmas! Large things we take to G'ma's house, or to the neighbor's. The kids are currently not permitted in G'ma's garage right now!
My closet. My kids know I hide them there, but they don't look. Big things are hidden in the garage and covered. We have hidden things in our garage for neighbors. I have always told my kids that if they snoop, I'll take everything they find back. But really, it's not as fun if you know what your gifts are. Mine are to the age they understand that now.
I keep a rather large CBD box on myshelf in the closet. Its empty all year except this time of year this way it doesn't catch their attention as something 'new' My kids are getting 4 gifts each plus 1 together gift. The together gift is a trampoline with enclosure so its in hubbys building under a tarp. Its not hard to hide fewer gifts There is 1 box at my moms house because it was delivered when me & the kids were out & about shedrive by & saw it so shegrabbed it & I've just yet to go get it... I've also had my bestfriendhide stuff at her house (she lives 2 doors down)
Usually hide everything in my closet...unless it's for hubbie, then I get more creative...bathroom? kid's closet? Large items we usually hide in the shed or a great hinding space is the camper. It's locked up for the winter and noone has a need to be in there. One year we got two go-carts and those were hidden at a neighbor's house. Funniest was the one year we had a box under the school room table...huge box! Think it was for donations or something. I emptied the box and hid a computer box in that box. Sat there in front of them for over a month and they didn't have a clue! Also, keep in mind, you could always wrap your gifts before you hide them too. That way if they are stumbled upon or found by accident it wouldn't ruin the surprise. Just be sure to keep a list of what you wrapped so you dont forget!
In the back of our truck, covered with a coat or something. Nobody looks back there. We also leave stuff in an upstairs room in my Parent's house, bc the kids aren't allowed to go in there, or have no reason to go upstairs.
I love my husband, he tells me where he hides my gifts so I don't accidentally come across them! I HATE ruining surprises. Did it once near Christmas when I was a kid. Worst. Christmas. Ever. So now....well, I do everything I can NOT to find my presents....
