We got our first one when I was 8-and-a-half months pregnant with Phillip, our land-line went out, and AT&T told me it would be over a week before they'd get around to it!!! Talk about one upset, hormonal momma!!! LOL!!!

We actually have stand-alone internet with AT&T at home now (for almost a year), and have to say they've always been quite helpful. So what Steve is saying about it being a different company may be something to consider.

From would I have heard, I would avoid AT&T at all cost. Everybody I know uses Verizon or anything other than AT&T. Those who have used AT&T have had many problems with the company and correcting problems that were the fault of the company. I do not know if this is a localized problem or not. However, I decided to stay away from them after all the horror stories I heard and believe me, I heard many about AT&T.

With that said, I do not have a family plan. My cell phone is through Verizon. We tried to get a family plan and was quoted $100.00 a month for two phones. Handsome decided to go with a Track Phone since it is cheaper and he rarely uses it. If he needs a phone on the job, he uses a company phone.

We just use Tracfone. But then our needs are simple - we don't need to connect to the internet, take pictures, send email, all that stuff. We just call or text, and that's enough for us. DH's phone has the capability to take pictures etc, but we just don't. If there were more than just the two of us, we'd probably have to have some kind of monthly plan.
