Today at Sam's hubby spotted these packs of books (2 books for like $8), since we couldn't look in them I didn't buy them, but decided I would remember to look them up on Amazon... where there were a few that offered samples.

Anyone familiar with these? What do your kids think of them? I looked at a sample of Houdini and it looks like Rylee should be able to read it. She is scared of chapter books.

Also, the Childhood of Famous Americans books, any experience with them?

We've loved the Who Was books a lot. My kids have used them for biographies in their free reading time. My son's favorites are "Who Was Marco Polo" and "Who Were The Beatles". My oldest daughter's favorite was "Who Was Ann Frank" and "Who was Amelia Earhardt?"

We have a couple of the Childhood of Famous Americans. I think the only ones that we've liked have been Thomas Edison and Ben Franklin. But, they are a little drier than the Who Was books.

    We like them! :)
