    Today is our first day.

We got a late start today, plus the house is a mess from us having to redo our kitchen floor a couple of days ago due to some water damage from all this rain... but we worked hard and pulled it out anyway, so all is well and we're settling into our routine. My kids have a busy evening, they are having a friend over in a little while then they are going to visit grandparents afterward, so that was good motivation for this morning :)

And this year we're adding a bit more structure and school-y to our day. It's a change for us, but I'm hoping it works. :) Right now is quiet time, and boy do I need it. We've gotten out of the habit of daily quiet time and it makes for a grumpy house in the evenings!

Nope! Not even close! This week is Bible School Prep Week. The kids are involved in a MAJOR project to turn the church into something totally different by the end of the week. Last year, Rachael worked close to 12 hours a day. They left around 11 this morning, and I expect them home after dinner. People actually sign up to bring meals for the workers! Then next week is the actual Bible School, and two weeks later is AWANA camp.

We will be starting July 22. We are going to have a much busier year than ever before. I hope with a much earlier start, I'll feel much less rushed this year than the last two.

Today is our traditional start day... first Monday after the 4th.

This year, beginning next Monday each of the 3 oldest will go to camp for a week, Rylee is first and though it's only evening camp... I'm in charge of it for several Brownie troops in the area. It's taking all I have in me to pull it all off. Garrett goes away to camp the following week... we are going to bask in the release from miserable teen for that week, then the following week Reagan and Hubby are going to cub scout camp.

We will tuck our tails between our legs and begin the beginning of August.

We started 6 weeks ago and then the weather was nice and we stopped. So basically- I have no plan! Public schools start here in just over a month but at that time we will have out of town visitors so maybe the end of August? I don't know. I wanted to school through the summer but the kids are having so much fun playing outside for 10+ hours a day I don't have the heart to stop them.

I don't have a plan in place yet. I like the idea of year round schooling. I am planning to use Trail Guide to Learning and it has 6 week units. One blogger I read uses it and starts in July and takes a week off after every unit and a month at Christmas and a month in the summer. I thought that sounded great, but haven't gotten organized enough yet, in fact I don't even have my curriculum yet. My kids were in a traditional school last year and I think they need a longer break this summer to get ready to get back to homeschooling. Or maybe I am just making excuses for myself ;)

Ange, I think you are on the right track. Kids need a lot of time to "destress" from public school in my opinion. But, maybe after they have "detoxed" then you could start the year around. I love year around and have never sent my kids to "school". But, if I did I too think I would have a longer break to get them into the "homeschool" mode and out of the "school" mode.

We started 4 weeks ago! We are trying a new schedule this year with 3 weeks on 1 week off with minor adjustments around the holidays. So far we like it....but usually it will take 4-5 months before we really decide how it is working for us.

We had our first day back yesterday. It went really well. We started with our 3.5 mile routine walk at 7:30am, came back and started school around 9:30, and finished at 2pm. We had a great day.

We haven't legally started, but we've been doing reading lessons each day... I don't want her to lose the info and regress.

Our official first day as far as the school board is concerned will be August 19 (the same day her sister starts prek).

We like to start this time of year because it's too hot to play outside all day, we'll take a nice long break when our weather cools down :)

I'm really thinking of a way to make mid Sept to mid Oct to be off and then Mid April to Mid May to be off... those are the best times of the year around here for being outside.

Really, I think I would rather go year around and not have more than 2 - 3 weeks off at a time for a special break..... hmmmm Going to look at my calendar for a while.

We finished at the end of May, and plan to start up again after our town festival in August. Public school starts in September. I'm due with baby #4 in October, and not sure how that will go, so I'm planning for a few weeks off then. I'm hoping we will be able to ease back into things quickly, but you never know :) We've got most of our material, just waiting on a box from CLE. Shipping from them usually takes a bit longer. DH needs to finish up some work in the basement so we can get the bookshelves and other school stuff all set up. I'm really looking forward to starting this year :)

We start Monday. It is the first year we are trying out a year-round schedule. I think it will work well for us.
