When I visited Britain a few weeks ago, I learned that members of the local church all disappear down the 'pub' for lunch. They serve excellent food there, and it's a great way to meet people who don't attend church. Britain has a long tradition of this and, if done with the right attitude, I think it's really positive.

I do not have a problem with wine. Getting drunk, tipsy, or lightly buzzed is the problem. We do not drink because Handsome is a recovered alcohol and he does not see any purpose or reason for alcohol other than medicinal purposes. Even then, he doesn't consume it. If I was offered wine and the time was right, meaning I wasn't going to drive or cause my husband to stumble, I would accept it willingly. However, most people I know that drink enjoy more than a glass of wine. They drink with a purpose and that purpose is not to compliment their meal. :)
