    Ladies- I'm suffering.
I guess you call it homeschool withdrawl (sp???) syndrome, lol.

I still look at curriculum when I run into it at my usual places. I feel like I should be getting ready for next year. I have nothing to read but dopey novels!!! I miss my TEs, lol.

I was at the school today, and there were boxes of new curriculum in the hallway. I choked up, to be honest.

Sigh...guess I better get my Farmville on, lol.;)

I got a lump in my throat just reading your post. Emily is thinking about going back to public school for high school. That gives us one more year of homeschooling unless she changes her mind. Makes me sad just thinking about it! I hope you feel better today.

I think it's just the suddenness of it all. I planned to hs till 9th grade, actually. She's excited about going, so I keep my comments on the transition positive.

Well, Beth, you can be my Farmville neighbor, lol. Maybe we can trade livestock or whatever you do in that game.;)

Becky, I keep freaking out, and really am ready to call off the sending Garrett back to school.

I have this horrible ache deep in my gut, and I can't shake it. What is sad is I do have all his curriculum sitting here, all lined up and it's ready to go.

I suspect you are just like me, feeling sorry to see it end. Stick to your guns, Sommer! He doesn't obey you, just like Jeannie and math, and you have the same torment I do. I have 6th grade stuff here, too, bought in advance. I'll keep it awhile, just in case, but my overall feeling is she will be fine at school.
It's my opinion, just my opinion as another that has put up with an obstinate kid, you need to follow through here, Leave your emotions out of it, like I'm learning to do, and let him get educated somewhere else. Once he's gone, focus on teaching your other two. You are not obligated to expose yourself to his behavior. Homeschooling, in that case, just is not worth it, not working, and another situation needs to be found. I feel for you completely cause I totally understand.

He is definately going, and I KNOW it's what is best for EVERYONE, when he was at scout camp it was sooooo peaceful here! I'm trying hard to let go of the guilt because I know homeschooling is best, but for him and his situation, it's not so I need to just get over it!

Lol- I honestly hope to get my house straightened out once school starts. Stuff needs painted, cleaned, etc. And I honestly want to get into the gym.

Come May, let's see how all that worked out, lol!

I know how you feel. My oldest is going to high school in a FEW WEEKS EEK!! I'm nervous for him but excited at the same time. I've finally stopped looking for curriculum for him and turned my thoughts onto school clothes and school supplies. Ds13 may be going back as well, his curriculum is here waiting but if he doesn't get busy with his work I'm sending him back. Last year was a disaster. Ds14 wouldn't do ANY of his work. Ds13 was a fight but got it done. The girls are self motivated so I didn't have an issue with them. Hopefully I won't. Cailey will be in 6th grade this year. We're winding down the elementary years with her. So sad. They will all be going back in 9th grade unless something changes.

Am I the only one who keeps thinking things like "Now I have to follow their schedule, no vacations in April any more." ? This part is the hardest for me to accept!

Garrett will actually do his work, but he never puts any effort into it, if he is told to write a sentence about something it's the most minimal sentence ever, if he is told to write a paragraph it's barely that.

My biggest problem is that he picks a fight with me and his siblings every. chance. he. gets. It's a nightmare to live with this kid... really sad to say that, but it is. Sigh.

Since I am getting geared up to teach kinder at our church school (if we have kinders) I am not having the withdrawl problems as bad as if I didn't have some teaching planned, but being on a set schedule is really bothering me.

I like the word 'tethered'. We will be tethered to the school schedule now, lol. Tethered, yoked, chained, joined-at-the-hip, stuck-with-until-May, lol.

Well, we'll see how the year goes. I'm the one that will suffer lol. In the car at 8 am, TRAFFIC, lol. I have become a slow mover these 6 years, so I'm in for a huge adjustment.
