    http://www.urbandictionary.com/

My son's friend was wearing a shirt the other day with a phrase that sounded kinda questionable. I went to this site and found it listed. Apperently it just meant to be messy but I still didn't like the phrase and told my son so.

I think I'll keep it as a favorite so I can keep tabs on slang the kids might pick up.

    Hope this helps someone...

Careful with the urban dictionary! Anyone can contribute and the top rated definition is determined on the basis of votes.

Sometimes this means that the most hilarious definition wins over the most correct one. And also sometimes the answer with the most swear words in it, or the grossest answer wins. People will make things up out of whole cloth, just for laughs.

However, sometimes it's useful. As long as you can double check the definition somewhere else. (Or with someone who actually uses it.)

....and don't ever, EVER type your name into it. You'll never want anyone to call you that again!...

Oh I didn't realize that, MegCanada. Man! How are you supposed to keep 'current' when they go and do stuff like that?!

I just don't worry about "keeping current". I'm coming up on 40, and I wasn't "current" when a teen - so it's hopeless now.

However, I do stay interested in what my son's up to online with his friends. Also, the children I tutor are usually eager to tell me - at length! - about whatever's the latest craze. I've noticed a lot of parents kind of brush their kids off when they're rattling on about something, like a new game. So I listen, and ask questions instead.

When my daughter recommends a musical artist - I download the songs and actually listen. (My mother used to hate everything I listened to, without ever giving it a chance. Drove me crazy! Especially when she'd then "discover" an artist through her friends, that I'd been listening to for months.)

Also, remember, kids aren't always the experts, either. They get things wrong, too.

Yeah i don't mean keep current for me but to know what the kids mean when they talk or just what the slang means. I don't like to be out of the loop :)
