On another forum that I am on they have a thread for “The Word of the Year.” In case you don’t know, it’s a word that you are going to focus on in 2012 to better yourself. They discuss why they are picking that word and talk about it off and on throughout the year. Does anyone here have a “Word of the Year” or would like to do that on here? It’s pretty neat, I think.

My word would be contentment. It's not that I want worldly things, I just crave change and feel like I'm stuck in a rut with no end in sight. God is going to have to change that in me since it feels like a deeply rooted personality trait. He has given me good things, but I just can't feel content with this restless spirit.

That's a great word Brooke. The Lord has really helped me with contentment, but I still have a ways to go. It took Him taking almost everything material away from me to get me to the point I am at, but like I said, I have a ways to go.

My words for 2011 are meek and quite. I should probably leave them for my 2012 words. I know my DH would like me too.;) But I think the Lord is wanting me to work on something else instead, but I can't come up with a word for it. I really need to work on showing my happiness. I need to work on smiling, laughing, playing, and having fun much more than I do. I have always been a pretty serious person and just don't show my happiness much. The only words I can think of are Fun loving or Enjoy, but for some reason neither of those really seem to be it. Any ideas?

 when I first read this I thought we were reflecting on the current year to which I would have labelled at trials  HOWEVER, I can say that I came out on top of those trials and learned a lot about myself through each of them.

For 2012... oh my !! I'm not even sure. Maybe content with all that I have, all that I am given and each opportunity/trial that I am faced with.
And be content with such things as you have, for God has said that He will never leave you or forsake you. ~Hebrews 13:5

To me joy and happiness or showing happiness are two totally different things. Joy is surely something I could work on, but still not what I am going for. Someone on the other forum suggested Delight for my word. So, I'll think about that one. I may just do something as simple as Showing Happiness!

My word will be simplify! At 57 (me) and 58 (Freddy) years old I think it is time we de-clutter and de-stress! Finally!

When I de-cluttered even before we were really serious about selling the house it was one of the better things I can say I ever did... I'm loving simplicity. We have all that we need and we got rid of a lot of stuff (and I find myself continually doing the same thing on a regular basis). No looking back, no sirrie

Relationship. With God, family, and friends. I'm quiet and shy by nature so building relationships doesn't come easy to me at all.

Endurance is another one that comes quickly to mind.

Ha! The irony of my choosing the word diligence as I sit here at the computer with breakfast dishes still on the table just hit me! Do we have to start now or can we wait until New Year's Day?:lol:

I believe God just gave me my word for 2012, it is Moldable. I have so many things in my life that I want to change to make me a better me. But God just told me, “_______________, just give Me you and I will mold you into who I want you to be and you will be way better than anything you could dream of.” So there you have it, Moldable.

I think I'll have to choose diligence too. Attention to detail is not my strong suit, and I'm way too eager to put "this" aside in favor of "that" and forever if possible...

Gratitude - I read "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. It's still challenging me to be thankful in all circumstances. "All is Grace". She does a great job of questioning those verses in the Bible that ask us to be thankful in all things, and then explaining why she can.

For me, gratitude sums up a lot of what I need to work on this year. Being content, accepting God's will for me . . .

    Yup, Gratitude is my word.
