I'm looking for a perfect recipe for a cake for my son's birthday party. I don't want chocolate, but anything else works. The recipes I'm finding online aren't getting great reviews (dryness being the biggest issue). I'd like to not use a box, so what's your go-to recipe?
Can you make a cake without a box?!?! LOL! I bake my own bread and pies, but for some strange reason, cakes are a completely different ball game! See if you can find a recipe with pudding in the batter. I'm somehow thinking they are moister.
Jackie, I could have posted that! ... except for the part about baking my own bread and pies.... LOL! Pudding in the batter was my suggestion, too. Be sure to use cake flour, rather than regular all-purpose, for finer texture. Take it out of the oven when you'd consider it "just done" instead of "done-done". Timing can be very important with cakes.
