So I found a curriculum I like, I haven't done tons of searching, but it's what I've like so far. The problem is DH doesn't realize it's going to cost to homeschool. I told him of the curriculum and how much and he just said, "why can't you teach it?" Honestly, I can, but I want something to go off of, kwim? Especially since it's my first year HSing. Any advice?

Also, the curriculum, I like so far is this: http://www.mfwbooks.com/1_k.htm Anybody have any reviews on this? My son just turned 5.

This will also be our first year with MFW. The minute I saw the web site; I fell in love with it. We'll be starting Adventures soon.
My dh also objected to the prices initially until I sat down with him and showed the savings of HS. Less clothes (don't have to be the latest style), no school lunches, tax credit for educational books, able to vacation at non prime times, etc. Once he saw this, he was much more understanding of the cost.
Perhaps this would give him a better understanding.
    Best wishes!

Or the price of making and copying all that stuff yourself. And gas and time to go do it.

I agree with the others---Homeschooling often costs WAY less than private or even ps schools when you add up all the fundraisers you HAVE to participate in, and costs of all sorts of things that come up that you have to pay for! Get a list from a local ps of what your child would be required to bring in---paper, pencils, Kleenex, etc., etc.!!!

We don't get tax credit for educational stuff---so make sure you chack that one out thoroughly before you plan on it!

yep, My dh reminds me of that cause I am the one who balks at the price. He said, the choices I have been looking at are still less than what I had us spending when I did life paks all through, cause many of the books I am getting on sale and such, Just look around for sales you never know what you can find.
I get upset tummy over spending too much money.

I've spent every weekday of the last two months printing science, reading, and health lessons, plus helpful extras that I stuck in a binder to have handy. I've run through like 3 ink cartridges, and maybe 6 reams of paper. Hsing might cut some costs, but to me it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

There is cost to any type of education. One reason you homeschool is to provide the best education possible. That will sometimes cost some cash. Now, there are ways to reduce the cost. Also with homeschooling you do spend less on clothing and lunches. However, no matter what kids and education cost money. Homeschooling is cheaper than private school for sure. The cost of your curriculum is the cost of one month at some schools. It actually scares my dh if I don't spend money...lol...than he things we are doing nothing! LOL.

I'm thankful that Carl is like that, too, T'mom! He also knows how much time I spend looking for stuff used, so he doesn't complain too much when I need to pay full price for something.
