WOW! Who'd have thunk it? I actually wrote a full year of Drama class up, with details! Man, I even included lesson reports, assignments etc, and detailed educational feild trips. I had to count hours for it, so I got the right number per quarter, and wow! I could actually do it! I have been really scared to try that sort of writting it out that far ahead in the past. Ihave done it in mini form, like this page this day, but not what its about, and this was even writting the lessons out! WOW! Not to mention coming up with what shoudl be taughto when... hmmm.... its not as hard as I thought! Anyone else out there who found out something was easier than they thought? Lesson plans? Yearly schedules? or just teachign something? lets encourage one another this time of year!
Mrs. Wilson’s Drama I Syllabus “All the world’s a stage, and all the people in it, merely players.” William Shakespeare Materials needed; • Pen and sharpened pencil • Note book (college ruled) • Folder to hold hand out sheets. • Colored Pencils for projects. • Sun Glasses. What You’ll Learn in this Class • We will cover a lot in one year, but this class is meant to give you a taste of what a Drama class is like. • I will cover a brief History of Theater, including the basics of how to perform on stage and off. I will use various venues to present silent acting as well as vaudeville productions. A brief survey of Theatrical Arts and the different areas of craft involved in putting together a stage production in Drama 1. • We will study the stage as a place, up stage, down stage various diagrams and dioramas will be completed as we learn how to design stage fitting for a production. • Specifically we will cover acting, playwriting, directing, theater history, technical aspects including props sound, lights, set design, make-up, costumes and theater appreciation and evaluation. • Hopefully this class will encourage you to attend further courses in College helping you to decide if you wish to pursue acting as a career or just for fun. Format of the Class • For the most part this class will be hands on, on-your-feet and in-your-face class but you will be required to produce written reports and projects that will be necessary for your grades. You will be responsible for both solo and group acting. I will try to provide enough time at the school or local library to complete these assignments but some things will be considered home work. We will attend a field trip a month at least. Some will be on campus some off campus. • You will be seated in a non traditional style as we will be up and down during the class acting and moving in mime.
that was just the synopsis that the kids takehomethe first day of class, lol, just a min I will post a page of what I sent tot he Principal to view and review and tell me if its good enough... I have one more that has my whole year, its in my car on rough copy so far, I need to type itup still!
Rats there is a chart with information on the Hat Game, props needed, what we will do with them in more detail as well... still I have the completely detailed on in the car , so check baqck in a day or three haha! This is my middle overview ... also for parents or teachers to look at and get an idea of what we are doing. I gave them a whole packet including how much eachh feild trip will cost, etc. Details of where we wil go and why Drama Class The following is an overview of what I would like to teach as a Drama Class at CCS. It would be offered and available to students from Jr. & Sr. High levels. Ideally I would like to offer it twice a week (T-TH or M-W) for 30- 60 min. class- time depending on number of students and time available. (60 would be ideal for teaching and allowing each student to participate in practice games and play acting skits etc. As well as a short instruction time per class, I could make it shorter if necessary to meet the 30 minute time block by changing the lessons to suit the need. If we only had one day a week I would need the 60 minute time slot in order to achieve the goals represented in the units below.) Unit 1- A Brief History of Dramatic Arts. How acting and putting on dramatic productions was done in the medieval days and an introduction to Shakespearean plays. (Possibly watch one video of Shakespeare during this unit) We will read over lines from a Shakespearean play and discuss how parts would best be spoken. (Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It; are among the choices we will use.) Unit 2- Focus on faces- Emotions, speaking with out words, speaking words with different reflections and inflections will be studied using photos and games. Students will be instructed in how important it is to use emotions in order to represent a drama role. The following page is an example of what we will do to teach this; Unit 3- Back ground work—discovering who your character is. Who, what, where and why of a ‘Part’. Learn about researching by watching movies and reading books on characters and then acting out a dialogue as one of the characters.
Very good job TMom!!! We went to the local amusement park last night.. it's a free admission park, and has lots of free entertainment... well one of the things is this castle stage area where they have a story tell tell a story as the patron kids act it out.. it's very cheesy.. but usually worth a good laugh.. I think I will be taking the kids over after July 1st.. when legally our next school year starts.. and have the kids do it and take some pics to put in our port for next year as drama...lol. I'm not a drama person, I couldn't act if I had to to survive!
sure I forgot to mention that the feild trip costs are probably gonna be , well I put 50 for gas for one trip, and that wwould be split between the kids, plus lunch that day etc... we are close enough to go eat at the mall in the town we are going to so that can be one fun trip for s small group !
hey, btw, I started out making a table, with the number of weeks I would have, then did two days a week with one friday a month being feild trip day. I wrote the basics on that .. like -- hat game, brief history of drama, week one, script reading- discuss the characters- another week things liek that, then I elaborated on it on the list wiht aragraphs that I showed. and made side notes as well to myself, so I can go through a bookelt I will put together now printed and all and know when I need to have copies for each pulled from the files I will print up for lesson games, and script reading etc, I am using some kids level history scripts from Scholastics.com too! Jr high level as well! oh and no news is good news right? haha, I am waiting on the parents to say YEAH I want this for my kid!
