You FINALLY get a room (a big room no less) for all your "homeschool" stuff, use two bookcases you have, get a third four-shelf bookcase, and use some stacked crates as more book shelves, see that you have successfully filled each shelf to bursting in a moderately organized way, THEN realize that you have to pick up 4 BOXES of curriculum tomorrow!

You have way to many homeschool related books when you have to make yet another trip to Wal-mart for yet ANOTHER bookcase (let's hope they all fit!) And I truly have to wonder and marvel that we got all those books and stuff to fit in a small dining room that we also USED as a dining room!

The good news is once I have that room all done, I will upload some pics - I am very proud of it! Lest you think ALL our books are up there, nope. Instead of a living room in the new house (you know, that second sitting room no one uses) we are making ours into a library! Anyone know where I can get expresso colored tall book cases for cheap? (that will be another picture for another day!)

I covet a library!! Well not really, cuz it is fine with me if YOU have one... but still, I want one.

I want tall bookshelves with a library ladder, and large cozy leather chairs with lamps next to them. I want hardback copies of Laura Ingalls Wilder and The Boxcar children... and Cherry Ames. Does anyone remember her? She was a traveling nurse... I LOVED, LOVED those books, even better than Nancy Drew. (I didn't even know I was going to be a nurse)
I want Atlas's to spread out on a large table and two bookstands, one with a huge dictionary and one with the Bible. sigh. Oh, and cozy throws to wrap up in because you get chilly, even in the middle of the summer because you are being so still, sitting in your chair, reading your favorite book for the 142 time. double sigh.

Cool idea for using the 2nd sitting room for a library.
I once made bookshelves with painted boards and cinderblocks...but that might not be the look your going for.

My girls share a bedroom so that we can have a library upstairs.

Try OfficeMax. I have one in my reading room from one of their regular stocked collections. I don't remember the name of the collection, but the name of the wood color is Expresso. It is darker than cherry; lighter than mahogany. I can't remember what wood it is, but the frame is solid hardwood-good value. The collection has many different pieces in different sizes, and it is a very conservative style that goes with everything. Mine was like $199, and it is big...about 6'6"h x 48"w x 14"d.

Can't wait to see those pics!

You can get the color you want with spray paint very inexpensively.

It is amazing what you can do with spray paint. I had the ugliest ironing board. I like it however. A couple dollars of spray paint and it was as new. I just sanded it lightly dusted it then sprayed it. Clean, neat, new cover and there you go.

To many books? hmmm, my dh says we do, I tend to disagree. My view is we don't have enough. I mean we still have at least 12 more years of schooling!!

Handsome loves books as much as I do. He likes to collect most of the works from his favorite authors. On the other hand, I love collecting collectables and classics. I am a classic junky. We go to Salvation Army every Saturday. They have a 50% off sale and we find books we would like to read, have already read, and books we would like to share with other people but don't want to part with the ones we already have. This way we can give some away without giving ours away.:D
I love the smell of books! I wish we had a library but my house is so small that every wall is already used up.

One of my favorite history text books is one I bought for fifty cents at a garage sale! I'm constantly reading parts out of it. I think it's dated 1958.
