What percent of the time do you end up keeping it?

Just wondering how many people 'think' they like a curriculum, but after purchasing it they end up changing their minds on it.

btw I normally always like what I purchase! Rarely ever get rid of it.

    Good question.
I'd say 75% of the time I am happy with the purchase and stick with it. I wish that % were higher though.;)

I try use what I buy, even if it's not what I thought it would be ($$$). There have only been a few things that I just really haven't liked, but there have been others that I used for one year and then moved on.

i usually use what I buy. I am faily careful about what I get and usually find someway to use it even if it is heavily modified or supplemented.

I am still looking for what works. I am hoping this next set of books will be the ones.

Awww, Jackie, I was hoping it'd work out for you! Do you think you might be able to work with it somehow?

Well I voted 50%. I am better about buying stuff now, but for a while, I only liked about 50% of what I found. It's bad when you buy stuff, think you won't like it, sell it and then turn around and buy it again. I've done that a few times!

For the most part, I like what I purchase. Even if I do not like it, I try to make it work by changing things around.

I voted sometimes... It's hard to know what you will REALLY like until you see it and try to use it.

I voted for the 70-90%. It would probably be higher if we weren't on our 3rd science curric of the year (why didn't I just do Apologia Zoology 2 to begin with?).

We have a few things we don't "love" but are using anyway because it's OK but don't plan to use it again next year (Abeka Lang A....going to Rod & Staff English next year).

100% ++ on Horizons Math though!!!!

Like Sonlight Core 3 for my oldest but NOT a good fit for my other daughter....and we've slowed it down, added VA history, dumped some books, added others, etc.....we'll probably being using it for 1/2 of next year too....still like it though just not a "family fit" but a "one kid" fit in our household.

    Awesome question Nellie!!

    I picked 90-100

I have only ever bought 2 things that I don't use.

MUS for 1st grade. Dd was in tears each day after about 2 months in. So we switched to Horizons. Good move for us. (thing is I like MUS, dd didn't)

SOTW - haven't used it yet, but I plan to eventually. Really!!!

So far I love Abeka!! I love how colorful it is compared to what the ps uses. I've also been using a little bit of Saxon math because that is what our ps uses and I wanted to see where ds is compared to the school. But we mainly use the Abeka Math because he likes that one a lot more. When I actually sit and compare Abeka Math 1 and Saxon Math 1 the Abeka is much more advanced and more like Saxon Math 2.

I spend a great deal of time researching resources before I shell out any cash, so most everything I have gotten I have used. Some I used more than I thought I would and some less than I thought I would but it still was beneficial to give me an idea of how I would like to structure it in my own curriculum.

Curriculum costs so much I dither for ages before I buy as I hate working with curriculum I don't like & I can't afford to just replace so I'm stuck with it for at least 12 months. If I think I'm going to love it I usually do but someone seriously needs to come up with a program for serious math haters. lol. The math curriculum always looks yucky.
