Looking into purchasing the young scientist kits for a 12 yo and 6 yo. Will you all share your experiences, good and bad? Thanks!

We used 3 different sets last year and LOVED them. Everything is right in the box, and each box comes with three different themes. Each theme has 4-8 different experiments! It is like 20 experiments in one box! Plus, much of the stuff is reusable, which is a plus. We used this with all three kids age 12, 9, and 7. I had them keep "lab reports" in a notebook on what we did.

And the cool thing is, most of the experiments WORKED. We did one on air pressure, and we put vinegar in a glass bottle, put a balloon almost all the way on, then dumped in some baking soda and put the rest of the balloon on, and the two chemicals make CO2, which expands like Oxygen, but is heavier than the air -- we made a HEAVY balloon! It was too cool. I had fun with most of them, and even picked up another one. They can be pricey (rainbow resource has them for $20 each) but they are neat.
