Is there a certain subject that your child/ren love to do over other ones? Ds 16 has always been a History nut, so he loves his 20th Century World History. Ds 12 loves Science...always has. Dd 6 loved Art at first, lol, but since I found her a Science curriculum she is loving Science. She thinks it is cool that she get's to do Lab's just like the big kids.
Yup, my son loves Music. Unfortunately, Music doesn't count in my state as a required subject for school hours. I would say Math and Spelling are my son's next favorite subjects though. My almost 5 y.o. dd loves Art. I think her next favorite is workbook pages (dot to dots, matching, counting). She also enjoys educational games.
This year my kids are enjoying A Child's Geography and Apologia Zoology 2. These are the only 2 subjects that they can do all together and see to be their favorites....although my oldest loves history (she's a Sonlighter). Rhonda
I think I would have to say Japanese because it is the easiest. Second would probably be a tie between science and history. Grammar is probably the least favorite.
My 12 year old loves colonial American history, horses, codebreaking, and violin. My 8 year old loves pioneer American history, gorillas, cooking, and pottery. My 3 year old loves boats and nature. Can you tell we unschool?
Sd's (11th grade)favorite right now is probably Chemistry, although most days she hates significant figures. Dd (k) favorite is Math. She loves doing her pages in Horizons.
DS17 has always liked history and piano. He is very good at english/Grammar but doesn't like it. He also likes and is very good at languages--he's taught himself a significant amount of French and german. We went to Fiji for 2 weeks in 2005 when he was 14. The people there gave him a large conch shell as a gift for learning the most Fijiian while we were there. He was carrying on a limited conversation by the time we left! Last year and this year he's learning Spanish. There are a lot of kids that have Spanish as a first language and he's working at it with them, and teaching them English at the same time. He can order in a Mexican restaurant and carry on conversations well. He's not taking Spanish for credit, but has learned it on his own very well! DS15 likes history--right now he's into learning Greek and studying the Greek culture and Ancient Greece. He loves reading--he goes through books so quickly we can't keep up with him! DD11 loves Chemistry right now. She loves piano and her piano teacher as well. She's great at math but doesn't like it much. All three of them love geography also.
My 11 yo dd likes greek & latin vocab & piano the best - science the least My 8 yo ds loves reading, science & history & violin - his least favorite is writing strands
DS (11) loves math the most- grammar the least DD (9 1/2) loves art & history (its a tie) the most and grammar the least DD (2) loves making a mess, eating biscuits and sticking play dough on the walls the most and and pack up time the least. Hmmmm- seems I may have passed on my severe dislike of grammar to them ( oops )
Science and History by far. One of my girls (8yrold) REALLY likes math too though. (The other two merely tolerate it) And my oldest is nuts over any zoology.
My DD (9) likes science & history probably because I don't "test" on it yet. We just read for history so it's like story time & I've read to her since she was a baby. Her favorite actual curriculum is spelling but I think it's because of the stories I read-we use A Reason for Spelling. She really enjoys spelling with shaving cream or lemon juice. Hubby is in charge of art which she loves. My son (5) has not got a favorite yet. He just wants to get through his work to play. His favorite way to do math is watching football with Daddy & figuring out how many field goals or touchdowns there are in 21 points etc. They both love P.E. at the park with our homeschool group and when they go to work with me which I feel counts as P.E. in a way. I work at a gym & I can bring them with me. We have a bounce house, basketball, playground, & the favorite-a rock wall to climb. And DD plays dodge ball when I work on Sat.
My DD (10) loves science and history. My older DS (7) loves band. He plays the drums. He loves science too, because he gets to pick the topic. 2yo DS loves being read to.
I can't believe it doesn't count! Do they teach it at ps where you are? Here music is required until the end of year 8.
At the public schools here they have Music, Art and PE. I have no idea what is required though. I know that in elementary schools around here all the kids take those subjects. I know by high school the kids get more of a choice of subjects. I don't know why my state doesn't have Music, Art of PE required for home education. Oh well...my kids are getting anyway even though it's not required.
