    Hello,

My husband and I are currently trying to figure out curriculum for our oldest daughter. I already have what I will be doing with my younger babies, but L is throwing us for a loop. We went to a homeschool store yesterday to look at the two we were stuck between (Abeka and Horizons), but that did not help at all.

Can anyone give me the pros and cons of each?

(If you know of another curriculum that you think is amazing and you want to share, PLEASE do!)

How old are your kids? A Beka has a lot of busy work. Some kids get really burned out on it. And for others it is really great. It does teach well.

I've been homeschooling a few years, and I'm slowly becoming more relaxed. This year we've just started using Thinking Tree journals, which are so fun! You can find them at funschoolingbooks.com. For math I'm loving Miquon for the K-3rd range. Language Lessons for Today by My Father's World is a nice gentle LA curriculum. Spelling You See is our spelling curriculum this year, and it has been going really well also. I was having a tough time finding math for my fourth grader that wouldn't cause tears. As much as I don't like using the computer, Khan Academy is what seems to finally be working. We are also doing Life of Fred on the side.

My oldest is seven. She will be entering 2nd grade next year.
My other babies are 4 and 2. I won't be purchasing any curriculum for them. I am just going to piece together activities that I have found to teach them the basics this year. I will find a Kindergarten curriculum for my 4 year old next year. (Or maybe sooner if she shows that she is ready for it.)

Hi, good to be on this group. How are you? Anyway, based on reviews I gathered online, Abeka is leading because of it has great curriculum guide. It includes step by step instructions compared to Horizon.
