The buy wasn't what I thought it was. I THOUGHT it was a king size down comforter. Original price was over $200, and sale price was $69. But when I got it home, I discovered it was "down alternative", which in this case was 100% polyester fiberfill. A great price regardless, but NOT what I want! It goes back tomorrow!

Remember we moved this year into my mil's house. And with that came a king-size bed. We've had a down comforter on the other bed for 22 years, it's too small for this one, and we want a king-size one. BUT I WANT DOWN, not "alternative".

Aww that stinks! I hate it when they use "creative wording" and I don't catch it until I get home. Been there. But YAY for a king size bed!!

I need real down, too, Jackie. LOL. Absolutely love it and won't be without it. And I'm insanely picky. I need the seriously soft goose down without any feather fill. I use down pillows, too, and I'm just as picky about them.

I like "Coming Home" through Land's End. They're gorgeous, wear well, and are 100% goose down. Also like Ralph Lauren for down. Cover has to be an insanely high thread count, but sturdy Egyptian cotton.

I feel your pain about "down alternative". MUCH harder to find what I'm looking for the last few years.

Like I said, my other one has lasted 22 years. I know, because I bought it at Lazarus (which is what Macy's use to be in central Ohio) the year we were married. It's still in great shape, and the only reason I want a "new" one is so it will fit on the bed. We used it on the king bed last year, and will do so again this year if we have to, but I'd rather have one that will fit. In the winter, we use the comforter and flannel sheets, and are snug as can be!
