I assumed her "Racky the Raccoon" look was intentional.

LOL Once I put on two different earrings and asked my dh is they looked okay with what I was wearing just to see how if he would notice. He thought they looked great!

I thought she looked great. It seemed she had just the right amount of makeup on. And the graph made perfect sense to me. Her point was just that the general population wouldn't be able to make accurate predictions about those who are homeschooled because homeschooled kids blend in with the general population unnoticed. I think this is a very astute observation.

I would also tend to agree with the 20/80 ratio. I live in an area with a HUGE homeschooled population and run into homeschooled kids constantly. I've taught drama to 100 of those kids each week. I rarely encounter a 'homeschooler' (by her definition).

Last but not least: this was meant to be funny. That's how I took it...as a joke.

She states in this video, "Those who are homeschooled make fun of themselves because they are secure"

I agree with the above statements! It was just meant to be funny, the last part, showing the difference between a homeschooler and a homeschooled person was dramatic for effect--adding the part to call her, she can help was all part of the silliness. I actually thought it was good observations! I think I will share it with some friends also!

Again, I agree....good point, that's exactly what she was doing! :)

BTW, the "young girl" or "little girl" or "teen ageer" who made the video is apparently married.

    Was she wearing a ring?

If so, it might have been a chastity ring. They can often look very similar to wedding bands and are meant to be worn on the same finger. Not saying for sure that it is/isn't. Just offering another explaination.

thanks actressdancer for clarifyingthat for me, I still dont get it, though is she serious or joking that there is a difference between the two terms? Was that just to make it funny the er and the ed thing? I think thats why I was confused, its was not a good week for me to be viewing it because I had so much coming up to occupy my brain lol, but I did enjoy it, and thought she did a good job of portraying different personalities
and I loved her shy version heehe

She talks about her husband on her twitter account and her husband talks about his wife (her) on his account. So they are really married or they just pretend :)

Are you sure it's the girl in the video and not the person who posted the video? She doesn't look nearly old enough to be married. Or is the video old?

(Where did you get a Twitter screenname? I'm not finding one.)

disclaimer:i know i take myself too seriously.

i personally found it not funny, maybe bc we verge on homeschoolers somedays, lol...i also felt like it kind of divided homeschoolers when i would hope we would be a united group. also, i felt like as a Christian, im called to be different than the general population, even to be noticably different, so im not sure i want to be a "homeschooled" parent. just some observations, maybe she felt weird and wanted to make a video to make herself feel better about herself? just kidding, lol

Being different from the 'world' has nothing to do with the things she was poking fun at. Those are non-moral issues and has everything to do with lack of proper socialization.

In the video description she links to her website. At the bottom of the website she links to her twitter account. It is definitely her and she is married. Also notice that her other videos are not from the "teen girl" viewpoint but the "housewife" view. She is young, but she's not like a 14 year old teen.

When I was pregnant with my first child, an older woman stopped me in the store and started railing on the evils of teen pregnancies and how kids like myself shouldn't be having sex. I told her that I agreed with her that teen pregnancy was bad but teenagers didn't listen to me much because I was 22. She went "oh" and walked away.

When I was in college, a waitress asked me how old I was "because there's a kid menu for kids 12 and under."

Some people just look really young. ;)

When I was in college I got carded by a security gaurd who went on and on about these pre-teens that want to skip school and think they're hot stuff.......I said, "Excuse me, I'm in college!" He laughed and said, "Yeah right, kid" then kept going on and on, trying to find which school I was skipping out from, etc. I couldn't believe how far he was taking it! I showed him my driver's license and college id before he reluctantly had to let me go! THAT was crazy!

When I turned 40 (okay, I'm admitting my age!), a guy at church came up to me and said, "__________ said you're turning 30 this year. There is NO WAY you're that old, right? I always thought you were in your mid-twenties!" I gave that man a big hug! :D

I have never minded looking younger than my age, because I knew sooner or later I'd actually look my age, with wrinkles and all, so I hold on to looking younger as long as possible! I'm starting to look older now though! :(

Anyway, it was just a spoof, it was to play on people's perceptions of what homeschoolers look and act like, when really there are many that homeschool that people would never know, since these homeschoolers don't fall into the weird and geeky and dressing strange stereotype people have them in. It was just a skit on it, and SHE might have made the difference between homeschoolERS and homeschooled up as far as I know.
