I still don't know for sure who I'm voting for! I've got a few figured out, sure, but I'm still researching the rest. It's not all that fun, I don't have great feelings about many. The one choice that I've made that I'm happiest with I decided on when I got his opponents mail. He listed off all the negatives about his opponent, and, well, I kind of liked the negatives! I told dh I should write him a letter thanking him for making it so easy for me to decide!

i cant bring myself to support a canidate whos platform involves stripping me and my family of our civil rights, and unfortunatly thats a common platform around here... grrr

May the voter turn-out be heavy.
    May the vote be uncontested.
May the best person for each job be elected.

Taking the critters with us, Then holding a "Childs" election at our homeschool park day! (Favorite color, pet, etc.... Then we make charts on that info...)

    Go vote, everyone!

    Jen, AMEN TO THAT!!!

I'm voting for people who are pro-life, pro-marriage, and pro-school choice. Those are my beliefs, and I vote for people who support them. Which means we often take the Voter's Guide the Teacher's Union sends out to DH's school, and vote AGAINST anyone on it when we're not sure, lol!

I'd love to get rid of Mike DeWine. He's one of those that formed the "compromise" concerning the fillibuster with Bush's judicial nominees. But I cannot in good conscious vote for his opponent. I also know that the Democrats have tried to pass tougher legislation concerning homeschooling on a national basis in the past (ie: all teachers must be certified in the area they're teaching, no exceptions for HS'ers, which, even if you're a certified teacher, would make HS'ing upper grades virtually impossible) and have promised to try again if they get in control of Congress.

I know who I am voting for. Blackwell gets my vote for Governor of Ohio.

I agree Jackie that getting rid of Dewine would be nice, however the alternative is just not acceptable. Buy hey is an election ever more than picking against two evils. LOL. Sherrod Brown stands on the opposite side of every issue that is important to me. So, I have to choose from a man like Dewine, which doesn't get a whole lot of praise from me and a man who is for embryonic stem cell research, against the National Missile Defense, against troops on the border, against, public display of the Ten Commandments, against the Pledge Protection Act....need I go on???

No offense to anyone but having the Democrats in control of the Senate is a scary thought.

I usually end up voting for republican. Never have I voted democratic. Usually republican is what my beliefs correlate with.

I'm not sure if this is nation wide, but today we also have 2 important votes in our state. #1: to keep gay marriage banned (is that just WI or everywhere today?) and #2: to bring back the death penalty. I know where I stand on both, but I just hope and pray that enough people with good morals go out today and vote.

Several states have votes concerning gay marriage. I do know that Wisconsin is a hot race for that.

Ava, did you hear that Dr. Dobson came out endorsing Blackwell? He normally doesn't make endorsments like that!

I am voting when Handsome gets up the hill. We like to go together. This way Ems can see that we both believe in voting.
Also it is romantic in a strange way.
He calls me when he is at the top of the hill and tells me to head on out to the fire department, where we vote, and we meet up and go in together. It so exciting!!!:D
    I can't wait for his call!:D

My hubby can't vote...he's from Australia. He is applying for his US citizenship now, because he can have a 'dual citizenship' (will be able to keep his Australian status as well). =o)

I voted a little while ago. TN is voting on the gay marriage issue, too. Our senator's race has been so full of mud-slinging that it made national news last week. Personally, I'm not a fan of either candidate, but voted "against" one rather than really "for" the other. I, too, vote for issues rather than for a specific party (although that pretty much rules out one party). The governor's race here hasn't gotten much attention due to the scandalous senator's race.

PLEASE VOTE!! There are some major issues on the ballots, and I have seen reports saying that if democrats take control of the congress our hs rights may be affected!

I saw Polosi (Minority Leader) say on CNN that "WHEN" the Dems take back the house, that they planned to stall all activity and to (Her words) "Paralize the Bush administration". Basically shut down the government, and not help any citizen simply to make bush look even worse; because apparently THAT is more important that anything else in front of the house. Sigh....

The reporter did not bat an eye.
Lady, I find you a sad excuse for a Democrat.
And quite embarassing for an American.
    You should be ashamed.
    That was just ugly.

So, it "IS" all partisan... So sad.

I have found that both parties are simply the different side of the same coin. And that coin gets dragged in the mud over and over. So I vote on issues.

Both parties have a slew of lawyers spread across the states watching for "Voter irregularities". It just breaks my heart. On thing that has allowed our country to stay relatively civilized in times of regime (SP?) change, is our ability to accept the vote and plan our counter attack for the next election. Constantly declaring that a vote is "Illegal" cripples the system and in the end, helps to destroy the entire system.

No one wants anyone to be denyed their vote to count, of course. There just comes a time, when it needs to just be accepted and to move on and plan your counter attack for the following vote.

Regardless how you vote, this day, just please vote your issues. Vote for your favorite person, Vote for your favorite letters, vote for your favorite color... just VOTE, please.

And if you are not registered...
    GO REGISTAR TODAY.
Most post ofices carry the little form, you may also be able to registar on line! Check your states website.

Then you can vote the next time around.
2008 is rolling up REAL quick!

Even if you and I disagree with me on issues.... I just wish you would vote, so that our leaders begin to once again feel beholden to us, which they do not now, because they know that most of us ignore them... Let's change that.

    (Steps off soap box...)

I voted this morning and brought my two girls along. My oldest was excited about it so after I was done we talked about how important is to cast your vote and how women at one time weren't even allowed to vote. My parents didn't vote when I was young. When I turned 18 and had my first chance to vote I registered them both and took them with me. They have voted ever since. My parents voted for a different candidate for governor than I did BUT the important thing is that they did vote.

My husband and I have been so excited about the election this year. I will be up late tonight watching and waiting for the results. I pray that Texas voters show up big time at the polls and come tomorrow we have a new governor.

I HATE politicians!!!! It's hard to trust people who talk in circles and never answer the original questions asked. It is time for a change in Texas!!!

I voted early this morning. I voted all straight Republican. I voted to keep Rick Perry for Governor of Texas.
We considered even voting for Kinky Friedman, but decided against him when we researched and found he was for abortion.
MonkeyMamma - who did you vote for as Gov and why?

I've heard there's been all kinds of complaints of voter fraud already in Ohio. People are complaining about having to show an ID. I honestly can't see what the fuss is about showing an ID! Some people complained they didn't get to vote because the line was too long, or whatever. Seems to me that if voting was really that important to you, you would stay and do it, regardless of the "inconvenience". If a person CHOSES to leave, they have no one to blame but themselves. When I went this morning at 8:00, there weren't many people there. Now, it may be different when Carl goes after his class around 5:30!

Jennie, we have been getting those calls. It is annoying. I usually do not answer my phone anyways, so lately I have turned off the ringer so I do not hear it because it seems to ring at least one or two times an hour especially in the evening. They are all political and annoying.
