Jeannie, those are so pretty and wonderful. You do a super job. Wish I could do half of what you do.

Thanks for all the compliments. I love to sew. I wish I had the time and energy to show my dd(9) how to sew. She is taking classes from grandma. Which is pretty good I guess because that is who I learned from. We have Choir practice on Wednesday nights after church and she goes to mom's house and has "sewing lessons" .She bought the fabric for her first project last night. She is making pillows for her bed that spell out her name. That is the first thing I made when I was 6. Only they didn't have patterns for them then. Then I graduated to barbie clothes. In school I made most of my clothes except for jeans. Peopel used to ask me where did you buy that shirt. and proudly I would say "I made it".

My grandmother sewed and crocheted. My great-aunt crocheted. My mom crocheted until I was born. I have tried sewing, quilting, crocheing, kniting, plastic canvas and cross-stitching. I have a project in each catagory. I found my favorite thing, making hats and scarves. I use the circle looms that I bought at JoAnns. I can do basic crocheting and knitting. Just ask the Barbies and baby dolls about thier blankets and scraves. :)
I have a basic sewing machine that my mom bought me when I got married. I have made a few table quilts and a Strawberry shortcake quilt. I made curtains out of sheets for the bedrooms. Did cafe style for the downstairs. DH didn't like them so I bought store ones and use them for table toppers. Plastic canvas to make barbie furniture out of.
I remember home ec class in middle school but not in High school. I got a C. I burned the food. I had the worse sewing project. The boys did better than me. :)
Now I cook all meals and sew. Well the sewing still needs improving. I have made stuff but it isn't wearable. I am better of with making little blankets for the barbies and baby dolls.
I did buy some fabric with dog bones and took old pillows to make beds for the dogs. They seem to like them. :)
Once my toddlers are older, I might try sewing clothes. My oldest wants me to make her skirts and I would like to make a jumber or 2 for my youngest one.

I have been SO excited about this thread since the day Jen started it! I just haven't had time to participate and share too!

But I stayed up late and optimized some pics of one of my most recent projects so it wouldn't (hopefully) take SO long for them to load and look at. This was meant to be a long-sleeved October birthday dress for my dd8 for her 7th b-day. Well, my Grandmother took a huge turn for the worse and we headed home to East TN for a couple of months right about that time. Thankfully, my g-ma recovered nicely (I cherish her tremendously) and fortunately I somehow still had the presence of mind to bring the unfinished "dress" and sewing supplies tossed into a traveling sewing basket. With the emotional stress and the time crunch, the "dress" never met it's intended sleeves and became an improvised "jumper" thanks to the ability to use my stepmom's sewing machine...the morning OF Thanksgiving!!! I was BOUND and determined to finish and have her wear her long-anticipated birthday-turned-Thanksgiving dress-turned-jumper (if that makes any sense) that I'd worked on intermittently for MONTHS and dragged w/ us 1,000 miles cross-country. And low and behold, I did it! Whew....so here it is:

The close-up scan of the collar is more true-to-color than the sun-washed photos. I fell in love with that pumpkin print! When I bought it, I had NO idea what I would make with it but I knew I couldn't live w/o it! I had planned on making a matching headband and knicker-bloomers w/ the pumpkin toile trim, but life happens, and the headband and bloomers didn't. Oh well, I still love the jumper and it gets lots of compliments!

I also made this hat/pants set, not specifically for Easter time, but it worked out well for the Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter.

and here's a little better look at the capri pants w/ a ruffle hem...

My apologies for temporarily dominating the thread, but I'm making up for lost time, and hopefully you'll enjoy the pics!

I also LOVE to crochet!!! ....even though I'm a very beginner.

My dd8 is holding up a baby afghan I crocheted for my cousin's 2nd child, a beautiful baby boy named Jackson. The colors perfectly match her choices for his room, etc.

Okay I don't sew but wish I could. I have a sewing machine but have no place to set it up. The only things I have ever made were simple curtains for the kitchen and a throw pillow for the couch. My mother in law used to sew cute little outfits for dd3 when she was a baby and she makes the girls aprons.
    You guys are sooooo talented!!

My sewing machine goes onto the dining room table, like all my other stuff. My dining room table always has stuff on it.

Kris I like you signature line.

My original plan was to put a small table in our extra bedroom and set it up in there. Well then this summer my step son was supposed to come live with us so we made that his room and since that didn't happen it became our junk room. And I really need to clean the junk out. My kitchen table is where we eat and Mon - Fri it has dd10 school books all over it. I don't have a dinning room table because our dinning room is our home office. I either need to clean the junk room or buy a bigger house. Oh yeah - and then I need someone to teach me how to actually sew.
