I was like 6 years old when I saw ET at the drive in and I remember I cried at the end. I used to love going to the theater and now we never go but rent or purchase lots of movies.

When I was growing up my friend's mom worked at the theater in our small town and we'd go to work with her and see all the movies for free all day long - even rated R.

I also remember spending nights at her house and after her parents were in bed we'd turn on HBO and watch very poorly made slasher films till 3 am. We were 9 I think. I still love scarey movies.

If memory serves me right, the first movie I remember watching at the drive-in was ET. We never went to the drive-in because it was to expensive to pay for a family of seven so I guess my dad must have saved up a bit of money for us to go. I used to love that movie. I also cried at the end.

Ava Rose, Disney re-releases their old movies to theatres every so often. I certainly didn't see Pinocchio the first time it was out, either. My parents weren't even alive in 1940. :) So you probably saw Mary Poppins on one of its re-release appearances in the theatres.

I didn't see E.T. until several years after it came out on video. I was old enough.... Just slow, I guess.

Aww...Patty...that is a sweet memory. I mean with the perspective that your dad really paid the big bucks just to take his kids to see a movie. Dads are great!

Tiffany...I am forever scarred by scary movies..lol. My parents only monitored sex not violence or anything else. lol. So, slasher films were ok to see. Man, did I see my share. Once when I was in bed at night I heard a toy go off in the middle of the night. My first...first...instinct was something creepy was going on. lol. I can't even sit with my back to a door...closet door...door of any kind. I keep thinking how that is a perfect set up for Freddy or Jason to come and slash my throat. LOL. My dd suggested painted the hallway going up the steps red...I thought of a haunted scary house. lol. I have seen too many horror movies to NOT have some associations that drive my family nuts. lol. All is in fun...I am not psycho. lol. I still am drawn to some scary movies. However, if I ever sit and watch one I find myself running upstairs to get in bed. lol. I wasn't scared as a kid! lol. I saw the first five minutes of Boggyman....AHHHHH....I don't think I could sit through it. What a nightmare! I caught the free preview of it on pay per view. I am for the most part turned off by that....but still...a bit of me is still curious.

Marylyn, *I* saw Mary Poppins when it was ORIGINALLY released! I'm the *MATURE* one around here, lol! We started calling my little brother Gus because he was a little tubby as a preschooler from Cinderella.

I am going to age myself..............

It was either Herbi the Love bug, or Benji

The first movie I remember seeing was in a Drive-In and it was a double feature of Gargantua and something else about a tidal wave. they were black and white I think and definately dubbed.

The first color movie I rememver seeing in a drivein was The Apple Dumpling Gang.

the first R rated movie I snuck into was The Class of Ms. McMichael or something like that.

Ava - scarey movies scared me but I loved it when I was younger!! I saw Poltergist (sp?) and after that I had to take my clown doll out of my room and put it in my mom's closet! My clown doll looked exactly like the one that pulled the little boy under the bed and it freaked me out bigtime!! Also after I watched the first Freddy movie I wouldn't sleep in the middle of the bed. Remember that scene where he got sucked into the middle of the bed? Yeah that gave me nightmares for a while.

My parents were very "whatever" about anything I did. Seemed not to really care as long as I wasn't bothering them. Sad really.

The first movie I saw at a theatre was one of the Disney cartoons- I just don't remember which. At the drive in, my first movie was Saturday Night Fever. I had a huge crush on John Travolta at the time and I still like disco music. My sister and her boyfriend took me, and had no idea all that swearing and sex was in there. My deviate, pre teen mind thought it was beyond cool! I watched it on AMC the other night and was surprised at how filthy and violent it is! Isn't that wild how your outlook changes?

Becky I think every girl was in love with Travolta!!! It is pretty wild how outlooks change. You are so right about that! I think a lot of what I saw as a kid pertaining to sex and language went over my head or I thought it meant something other than what it actually meant ya know?

When I was younger - and when John T. was younger - I thought he was so gorgeous. Just recently I watched Grease again and thought he looked so gross! It is funny how your perception changes. My husband said when he was young he thought Daisy Duke was soooo hot but when you see old reruns it's just not the same!

Aw, c'mon TM. You didn't like that thick, dark hair or that shy smile?? Oooh, that smile! He was on Leno a few weeks ago and they showed him in a pilot's uniform, all crisp and professional. I about melted! His wife is very cute, too.

After watching ET all I ever wanted to eat was Reese Pieces.

Gee, just thinking about it now makes me want to watch it and eat some!

Count me in that club! Tom Cruise also offends my eyes for the most part. I have seen him look kinda good a few times. Nick Cage...GROSS.

Yeah, Tom Cruise is a wacko. Nicholas Cage isn't handsome at all. It seems to me all the newer celebrity men aren't nice looking lately.
