I started this book today. I have several friends who used it and loved the results. I like that it approaches the spiritual issues that go hand-in-hand with taking care (or not) of one's home. And it's broken down into simple, easy to swallow in one sitting missions.

If anyone would like to take this adventure with me, let me know. I can post the missions each day.

It didn't really work for me, either. And I honestly can't pinpoint why. I think it's her. Really. She kind of irritates me. lol. And I can't stand shoes. Period. I really can't stand them. So I hated feeling like I either had to try to tolerate shoes at home (the one place where I don't usually have to wear them) or feel like a slacker for not having them on.

I'll start a new thread with today's mission a little later. I wasn't going to just post it if no one was interested. lol.

Is it a real book, or just an e-book? I'm not an e-book person; if it's not something I can actually touch, I'm not interested. Though the title sounds VERY interesting!!! (I'm also a Fly-Lady Drop-Out, lol!!!)

From what I can tell, only an e-Book. It's just way too costly for an author to try to self-publish paper books and getting picked up by a publisher is an arduous process.

I'm going to post the missions here, though that's only part of it, really. There are sort of devotionals that go with each day. I'll sum up anything that's relevant to the missions within ethical boundaries.

I don't wear shoes at home either. They come off as soon as I walk in the door because I can't stand to wear them.

I think it didn't work for me because my house just isn't trashed out which is what it seems she is helping people over come. I just need some kind of cleaning routine and an every now and them over all clean out plan. If that makes sense?

Fly Lady goes so far as to say that if you keep shoes off for cleaner floors, buy second pairs for everyone that are "home only" shoes so they never track in dirt.

That's just stupid (imho), and a waste of money! We never wear shoes in the house.

Mom use to visit and get upset with my girls going barefoot in the house, even in the winter. She just couldn't get that *I* didn't consider it an issue!

Agreed. I understand that, for her, she doesn't feel ready to face the day unless she's "dressed to the shoes." But my state of dress rarely affects how ready I am to face the day. I'm wired differently than she is, but she makes no allowances for that possibility.

My boys like to have shoes on. Their weird about their feet, though. It's a real fight to get them to go to bed without socks on. I'm afraid after playing and sweating all day, they need to air out. It's not much an issue for our home, since I don't have a single stitch of carpet anywhere.

I'm not totally obsessive about being barefoot. I mean, if I'm going to the garage for more than a second, I do put shoes on. It's really messy out there. And if I have flip-flops on I'm known to kick them off in public (i.e. at church last night. lol). But the first thing I do when I walk in my front door is kick off my shoes.

    I'm game!

I keep trying flylady and never quite making it. Shoes are a big issue - I won't wear 'em. My grandmother always insisted on them, but my mother said that's because she's Irish. Our family didn't have shoes before we came to North America all those generations ago, and then they became a status symbol - a way of showing we weren't dirt poor any more.

But times have changed, and around here it's considered really rude to wear your shoes into someone's house. Everyone leaves their shoes by the front door. I think it's because you don't want to be tracking in mud and snow and dirt all the time.

The shoe thing.. oh and getting dressed in going out clothes with make up on.. turned me away from flylady. I have clothes that I wear at home, comfy clothes that I don't mind getting a bleach stain on if ya know what I'm saying, and I hate shoes with a passion, I only wear them because the signs on the stores says I have to

    I'm in!

Hahahahaha! I know exactly what you mean.

The other day DH asked me to bring him lunch. I called him from the parking lot and told him he had to come out and get it. He was confused... until I told him I was not in compliance with the health code "suggestions" for shopper attire. (I was barefoot. lol)

lol.. hubby thinks I'm strange, his shoes are on from the time he gets up till he goes to bed (or should I say tries to kill me with his feet?), I keep flip flops near the door in case I have to go out in a hurry..lol

So is this more of an organizing thing or more of a sparkly clean thing? I haven't done that bug woman in a few years, I'm a little (or a lot ) rusty.

Oh, my sister from another mister!

It looks like a little of everything. There's cleaning and there's organizing and there's tossing-out. It's not super involved or detailed and I may have to stretch some of the missions out over more than one day (for me.. I'll still post them here daily). Because my bedrooms are a hot mess.

There are additional missions on her website, for after you finish these. This is mostly about attitude and pattern setting, I think (from what I can tell so far).
