5.00 bucks...Vicky...your deal beat mine Guess what Amy? I HAVE been to Starbucks for the last 2 days....mmmmmm.. Geeze..a 150.00 coffee pot, the coffee better taste pretty darn good! ROFL..What can I say? I LOVE LOVE LOVER percolators! Dare i say I will start collecting them. I have a small one i bought too. I agree Sabrina...when I looked at the homeschooling curriculum for sale my toes went to curling up....I must have looked for 30 minutes at all the good stuff:lol:
DH and I often frequent Starbucks on Wednesdays, while the kids are at AWANAS. We just came from there. He was grading his kids' stuff, and I was grading math and Wordly Wise. Only I DON'T DO coffee. EVER!!! I have a "white" hot chocolate with raspberry added to it. YUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!!
Hey Jackie, that sounds good! Now that I'm not doing coffee anymore, I get a de-caf hazelnut mocha. I tried other things, but that's my favorite! I may "need" to try yours now though!
I thought Hot choc. from there has caffeine in it too. Thats what they told me when I ask them on Saturday when we were there But, any way Jackie that sounds so good I am going to have to try it anyway. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
With me, it's not caffeine as much as just not liking coffee. When I was younger, I thought ALL clear pop was caffeine-free, and of course the one I liked was Mountain Dew!!! Boy, was I in for a surprise!!! I would have one can a day for lunch at school. So when I learned and gave up Dew cold-turkey, I had the HARDEST TIME keeping my eyes open every day about 1:30. Then, when I was expecting Rachael, I had a student whose big brother had a baby living with them. He was a very sensitive boy, and "knew" a lot about babies from being around his nephew all the time. I'd come in with my cup, and he'd point to me and say "You better not have any caffeine in there!!!"
I didn't know the hot chocolate there had caffeine in it! I'm gonna haveta ask (Like my English?!) ! For me it IS the caffeine issue. It was so hard for me to stop drinking coffee, cuz I LOVE the taste!!! But the caffeine, though I started it to help with my headaches (If I had a bad headache I'd drink a cup of coffee, and within 15 minutes it was gone, or barely noticeable! Unlike any over-the-counter meds!!!), was having a rebound effect, they call it. It was causing me to have worse headaches cuz I was using it too much. I tried slowing down, and would stop for little bits of time, then start up again. But I'm determined this time to kick the habit, it's not good for me anyway! I haven't had caffeinated coffee since my last cip on July 3, 2005. NOW I need to not do the de-caf either, since it has some caffeine in it, doesn't it? Now I'm going to have to go have a cup of Postum with Hazelnut creamer and a touch of cinnamon---it's good too!
OH YEHHHHH Chocolate has caffeine. Not to mention tons of other things that are bad for us but...of course I only save the articles that tell how good it is for us. HA! One of the hot cocoa's at the grocery store...not sure which brand but...it is called something like good night cocoa and it doesn't have caffeine. Maybe it's white chocolate. Not sure about de-caf coffee having caffeine. Personally...don't drink coffee. Hot tea, hot cocoa, Cerreta chocolates, oops...getting sidetracked. Tina, I'm so glad you got the coffee pot. Of course that is just one more thing to pack.
Chocolate has a touch of caffeine in it, I know, but not as much as a regular cup of coffee, or a mocha or latte with a couple shots in it! THAT'S what I'm staying away from! Postum doesn't have any caffeine either, so it's a good substitute.
But Postum sounds like something you must be at least 80 to drink! (Quakey voice: "Now deary, be a good girl and drink all your Postum before you take your nap....."
The chia tea they have is yummy too. However last time I went I got the pepermint mocha, oh that was good. When ds was getting Chemo the medicine was so bitter I masked the taste with about an ounce of coffee and the rest milk, (crushed pill, swirled it in warm coffe to desolve it) now he is off the medication, but still likes his coffee milk I know some one is going to razz me about giveing the kid coffee, but I still give it to him but now its just enough to color the milk.
No razzing! I know an ADHD kid that actually came to school with a doctor's prescription to have a cup of coffee when the teacher felt she was getting out of hand! (Parents were trying to keep her off stronger drugs.) The teacher would do it, but only if she felt it was necessary. She didn't automatically give it to her when she arrived for the day! We do whatever is needed when children are sick. DH likes the chai tea; NOT ME!!! I prefer a spice tea you make yourself out of powdered lemonade and Tang.
Oh, I love that russian tea recipe, I havn't had it in a while, (diabetic now) I have a few Chai tea recipes but havn't made them yet. my husband bought some from safeway for me but I didn't like it (the kind in a can.) my mom uses the kind from a tea bag.
Aball whats the different of getting a kid a cup of coffee or a can a soda. The only differents I see is adults things it's there drink only. I had a friend I worked with for years who was from England and drank wine and tea for every meal. It was hard for her to get to it over here in our state.
My doctor told me that chocolate has just as much caffiene in it as coffee does. Not straight coffee beans, but when it's made. I still eat it...that's just what I have been told and have read. Anyone have chocolate covered coffee beans? Eat 5 of those puppies and you're up and running within 15 minutes baby!!!
I have a friend who's husband LOVES the chocolate covered coffee beans! ME - I don't even like coffee, but give me a french vanilla hot chocolate anyday(extra caffiene please)! Sabrina
I have 2 cousins and aunt that always had a giant diet coke in their hands (like a big gulp). One day my cousin realized that cafine made her have headachs, so she stopped having any, I just don't see whats wrong with a happy middle, I could never drink that much pop! (sorry soda for some of you) I have one a day at lunch, and some chocolate onece in a while, (I bought my husband some mocha covered almonds, but I kind of took them over:lol: ) I don't let my kids have a full cup of coffe or a lot of pop. However, my husband had a cup of coffee in the morning, he takes one of those "to-go" cups and a full thermos to work.---thats s whole pot of coffee (sometimes he doesn't drink all the thermos)
I just like it when its flavored pretty heavily. Chocolate plus almost any thing is good, I like almond flavor, raspberry and cherry. I do make eggnog late' when its that time of year, we have a small espresso maker and the storebought eggnog froths like regular milk.
Jackie, You're right, it does sound old ladyish. But I drank it when I was a kid, and know lots of health-conscious people that drink it. Here's something I found on-line about caffeine content. Just thought I'd throw it in for ya'll to see: All figures are approximate, especially with coffee. Different varietals can have different caffeine content, and the way the coffee is roasted can also change the values. Double espresso (2oz) 45-100 mg Brewed coffee (8 oz) 60-120 mg Instant coffee (8 oz) 70 mg Decaf coffee (8 oz) 1-5 mg Tea - black (8 oz) 45 mg Tea - green (8 oz) 20 mg Tea - white (8 oz) 15 mg Coca Cola (12 oz can) 34 mg Pepsi (12 oz can) 38 mg Barq's Root Beer (12 oz can) 22 mg 7-up (12 oz) 0 mg Chocolate milk (8 oz) 4 mg Dark chocolate (1 oz) 20 mg Milk chocolate (1 oz) 6 mg Ben & Jerry's Coffee Fudge Frozen Yogurt (8 oz) 85 mg
