D - dressing up in period costumes to lead people through the "museum" set up in your house for the Middle Ages (or any other time period you've studied)
Love your idea - E - eating and getting drinks when you need to, not when the school says. When Elijah went to K (for 1/2 year), some of the children were eating lunch at 10:30!!! Way too early.
Ohio Grandma, Thanks. I came up with that a few weeks ago. This is our last week of the Middle Ages. So, the 'museum' should be up this weekend for family & friends to come see. And I agree, 10:30 is way to early for lunch. F - your children's Friends all asking if you'll homeschool them, too
Deena, my dd is working really hard on it, too. We typed up 'Official Invitations' and she's calling herself the museum curator. She started doing calligraphy last year, so she's going to make signs, for each of the different areas of the 'exhibit', in calligraphy. There's even going to be at least one interactive exhibit - she built a catapult & you get to use it to attack a castle. She even got authentic, handmade garb to wear while she conducts the tours.
My dd made the signs also. She made some clay pottery for part of the exhibit, and one of them broke into pieces. So she used that as one people could put together. We didn't find the garb, but she dressed up nicely. At the end of the "tour" there were snacks (raw veggies and dip, cookies, and juice) for people. We also had her "School Years" book on display (and her brothers books too), and some of their work from this past year out for people to see. What a great experience, and great memories, your dd will have!
My mom & step-dad are part of the SCA. They take the kids to events with them sometimes, so my mom made garb for all of her grandkids. That way, they can dress appropriately for the events. So, Joslyn will be wearing her garb for the 'museum grand opening'. We're hoping to put together some time period accurate food & drinks. She's going to have her timeline, her history binder, all of her middle ages projects, the books she used, pics of her working on the projects, etc out for everyone to flip through & look at. She's really looking forward to it.
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with a closet full of garb for my kids..lol. Between Ren Faire reenacting and the SCA I think I make more garb than "mundane" clothes.
J - Joyous, you all sound joyous when you talk about hsing your children and the interactions they are doing
