    (Mayim Bialik also homeschools)

I think it will go both ways. Many people detest Jolie. But many people idolize her, too.

I don't really think it will have an impact. First, because this is not a mainstream news story, and second, because many celebrities already homeschool their children, and most people don't care. Third, did you see the line that they are hiring tutors? This kind of thing is fine, but it give the impression that they are not really homeschooling, in the sense that most people do it, but they are still leaving the schooling to "educational professionals."

I don't think it will impact how people perceive homeschooling. Famous people like these may encourage the same thoughts we do about education but they are not doing the primary teaching like we are. They hire tutors and private teachers to do the teaching. I venture to say (and of course I don't know for sure) that they do not pick the curriculum for their children. The tutor does. So I think homeschooling and what these famous families do are two different things.

(P.S. Tom Cruise "homeschools" his older two kids, too)

(Mayim Bialik IS her sons' primary teacher. Yes... I adore her.)

She's not as busy as Tom Cruise or Brad & Angelina! Oh yeah and I read once that Roseanne Barr does it, too.

Yeah, Renae, the first thing I thought was they were being privately tutored, not homeschooled.

I agree it won't matter one bit.

I know. Just breaking the whole "celebrities always hire tutors" idea. ;)

Mayim Bialik "not busy"??? She's on a weekly tv show - how much busier can you get?

I had the same thought. But she does get a break, always films in the same locale, and isn't making dozens of "appearances" a week. Compared to us, she's busy. Compared to Angelina Jolie, she's not.

**Sorry** I did not know Mayim Bialik is still performing. We don't have TV or cable so I don't keep up with shows too much. I used to watch her as Blossom years ago.

Ok well, compared to Angelina, she's not as busy. Still, she's a working mom so it's great that she can school, too.

Mom 2 3, I've never heard of her! I had to do a web search for her. I THINK I've heard of Blossom, but have never seen it!

Really??? She's one of my favorite actresses.

Then again, she also homebirths, leaves her sons intact, and is really into other attachment parenting stuff.

Speaking of leaving sons "intact", did you by any chance hear anything about a comic called "Foreskin Man" that brings attention to that issue? I read about it just today. (Said by someone who did NOT leave her son "intact")

I don't like the comic at all.

I do support the cause it promotes, but not the comic itself.

Like I said, my son has been circumcised, but I also understand people who chose otherwise. But I agree that this "comic" seems to really cross the line.

(For those not in the know, the cause to which I was referring above is that of making all genital mutilation illegal. That's a cause I do support.)
