    Hello everyone,
I have a question for you all. I have noticed that a lot of people mention creation science curriculums. I assume that they don't speak about evolution. But are there other additional points that creation sciences don't talk about? I was just curious, it's always good to know the differences in curriculums.
    Thanks!

the Eagle Wings creation science teacher book discusses a bit of Evolution, it has evolution stumpers, brings up good thoughts. I have not missed anything in teaching mine so far. My kids know that a theory is a theor and the truth is the truth and that science is made up of proofs and errors, we study through everything. I think no matter what science program you use you will find it has oopses that are not proved theories...

The major differences between the two are:

    1) Old earth (billions of years) vs. young earth (thousands of years)

    2) How the earth was created (DUH!!!)

    3) Dinosaurs and man living on earth at the same time (and the possibility that small dinosaurs may be alive today)

    4) Noah's flood

    Anyone think of anything else?

I think that was a good list!
Could be when Dinosaurs became extint.. I was watching a pbs show the other day that was speculating with obvious eveidence of a major flood in the rocks and such surrounding the pile they had found in the artic as they tried to figure what casued the sudden death of so many?
Not to start a debate but that is a difference in times I guess isnt it?
How things got to where they are at?

I haven't really looked into cir. for my kids yet. but in my own studies, I have found that most of the things do not, ignore evolution but point out the disagreements in it and show how the bible, the earth, and scientific discoveries point the other directions.

So it isn't so much as evolution isn't discussed it just isn't used as fact for everything else. It is spoken of as a theory, not the basis of truth.

But I also haven't looked to much into the kids versions of cir. So they may differ a bit on how the material is approached.

Both our science and history books discuss evolution and why it is incorrect. They use documented evidence as well as science to prove why evolution is incorrect.

    question

well, since i was taught science in ps, i dont have clue what creation science will be like, and i too am looking for a good curriculum. if i am correct, dont creationists believe in some evolving in species just not from one species to the next. kwim, like turtle is still a turtle but may have evolved a little to better adapt to his surroundings? i am very curious myself about this topic since i should probably know what im talking about before trying to teach it. any interesting books about this subject that might enlighten me?

Yes, the general belief is that species will adapt to the environment, but they CANNOT change from one species into another.

There's lots of good science curriculum out there that is Creation.

Old World History & Geography and Investigating God's World are the two books that we are using for the main lessons. I like the history book a lot. We haven't started the science book yet. We have to complete health first.

I used to be an evolutionist and have since become a creationist and my husband is still an evolutionist. I became a creationist because evolution, as it is written, is clearly wrong (in my opinion). I don't know if we have young Earth or old, or if the dinosaurs lived at the same time as humans. I do know that the secular books always have info that is wrong. It has already been proven that life did not start on earth as the only complex carbon sequences seen in life has been found on rocks in space and such but not on earth. Animals and such we supposedly evolved from are not extinct, it goes on and on. But I completely respect someone else's right to their view point. I don't really care which books I use. I like that the creationist books I have used (Apologia and Considering God's Creation) present facts for both sides. I gave up evolution also because I found the evolution books blocked out any other possibility than evolution as it is written today. I do agree with the above poster than a species cannot change species and we have written history going back thousands of years and never in that time has anyone or anything given birth to or reproduced a different species. Plus, I loved genetics and took all the basic genetics classes I could in high school and college and it just seems impossible to me.

I like how the Apologia book that we used pointed out how famous scientists through the years "proved" something and although there was plenty of evidence against it, no one would believe it for hundreds of years just because the original scientist was famous and well regarded. Scientists said we were not the center of the universe for hundreds of years before anyone was willing to accept it just because the original scientist was so well regarded. I like the fact that this book is teaching my children to think outside of the box and not just accept what they were told just because the person who told them it was famous or managed to get it published in a book.

    Hi Heather,

Creationist do not believe that anything gets better. In this I mean that any type of micro-evolution that has happened does not increases genetic information. http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/cfol/ch2-perspective.asp

Also, new species have been observed to form, but again involves no new genetic information. http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/cfol/ch2-species.asp

Basically evolutionist make up what they cannot prove. They add what is not found. They lie to prove their points.

A true creationist curriculum will deflate the lies of evolution and give scientific proof of creationism.

It will also give a biblical world view to each subject you choose to use it with.

Some great ones I have looked into are http://shopping.drdino.com/category-exec/category_id/21/nm/Homeschool, http://shopping.drdino.com/product-...hool_Creation_Package_with_DVD/category_id/30, http://www.answersingenesis.org/Pub...ies-Full-Family-Curriculum-Pack,5658,342.aspx

These I know very little about but you can look into it. http://store.nwcreation.net/homeschool.html

And now for the free creation science http://www.icr.org/resources-for-students/, http://www.answersingenesis.org/kids, http://www.godandscience.org/, http://www.discovery.org/csc/videoAndCurriculum/ I just gave you one link on each of those. But go through their sites and you will find more stuff.

    :)

I think that's more ID or old earth creationism. Young earth creationism would believe the animals were created all at one time I think (I'll be corrected if I'm wrong!:D)

In terms of evolution though, that's not right either. "Better" implies some sort of judgement or intent. Evolution is genetic mutation. Some mutations do no harm or prove beneficial to an animal allowing it to live longer (or live at all!) and pass on it's genetic information, mutation included. Slow as molasses it is. :D That process is Natural Selection.

Despite the way evolution is used today most people accept it as law. Genes mutate from one generation to the next. It's the Natural Selection bit - how those mutations lead to speciation that gets everyone in a kerfuffle.

I've heard the exact same accusation flung at creationists. It's a generally untrue and unkind accusation regardless of who it's coming from.:(

Autumn - I've noticed a trend in science stuff. here's the basic code.

If the title says something about God (God's Design), Creation, Christianity (Apologia) or talks about being faith based then assume it will be creationist and likely include arguments against evolution.

If the title is neutral and says little or nothing in it's literature or on it's site about evolution OR creation, it excludes mention of both (Noeo, RS4K). Generally written by IDers or creationists who relaize secular homeschoolers have money to spend too. :D

If it says it's secular, mainstream or was published in a country other then the US then it will talk about evolution exclusively (Singapore I-Science).

There is no curriculum that gives equal time to both ideas. You'd have to mix it up and draw from different sources to accomlish that if that's what you wanted.

I have to say that I do not agree that it is untrue or unkind when I say it to evolutionist. I can prove the lies that are still in the textbooks. Many, many of them.

I don't want to hyjack this thread so I will just mention two things to show my point in why I said what I said.

Evolutionist date the fossils by the rocks and the rocks by the fossils.

And than they take radio metric dating which always gives dates that are millions of years different each time they date the same object and use the date closest to what they think.

That is just a smidgen of why I made my comment.

    Back to your scheduled thread...

Well, this has become quite the interesting thread hasn't it? :) I was just curious if creationist science curriculum talks differently about other things as well BUT I love a good intelligent discussion! :D

For the creationist science curr.'s what is the young earth/old earth thing? Is that the debate among the years that the earth has been in existence? (don't mean to spark a debate on this one, just curious because I never knew anything about it until someone mentioned it recently so I thought I'd check into it).
