With all the talk of vaccines lately, I thought I'd add a poll. We do not currently give our children vaccines, though I would pick and choose if we did.

Feel free to explain which ones you would and/or would not give your children.

We vaccinate our kids, but waited for additional vaccines until Matthew was over age 2. He spikes a high fever after getting them that I said enough is enough and we'll wait til he is older.

Also I dislike it when they give your infant/ toddler about 3-5 shots at one sitting. That is another of my "pet peaves."

I only allow 2 vaccines at a time instead of the 3-5 they try to give them at one time. That is insane!!!!

I said I pick and choose. They get all the basic ones, though I break up the multiples so that they're not getting too many in one sitting.

I don't give them "new" vaccines. Like the chicken pox vaccine. I prefer to wait until a few more years have gone by so that any long-term side effects can be seen.

All my kids have been vaccinated. I support the right of the parent to not vaccinate or to pick and choose. After I did more research, I swore I would not have my new baby vaccinated. After more research, I am going to pick and choose the vaccines I want. None of my kids so far have had even the slightest of reactions so I think my baby should be fine if we pick and choose and go slow. No matter what you decide you are playing the odds sad to say.

We vaccinate, but wish I would have read up on things more instead of just being a young Mom. I was up to date with all of Lance's shots, then the doctors office called us and sent us a letter saying all the shots in a 12 month or so period were not good. They hadn't been checking the temps for their vaccines. It just happened that I didn't like that doctor and we had moved, the new doctor recommended that we just start over. I loved this new doctor so I agreed. Then I missed his 5 year check up and just got his 6 year done. His arm swelled up pretty bad, was all red, and warm, it was about the size of the palm of your hand. Then in the other arm he bruised, he never bruises. All together he got 4 shots! That's a lot even for a 6 yr old.

I'm not sure what I'll do with this baby yet, I know I will atleast limit the vaccines. We don't get the flu vaccine either, I don't think that one is worth it.

    Yes, we vaccinate our children.

They have also had vaccines against chicken pox, hepatitis A (for travel here), Typhoid and Mennicigococcal (type C), and my daughter will have Guardasil at a later stage.

We are choosy with the vaccines our children get. We choose which ones and what time they get them. I NEVER allowed the dr to give my children more than 2 shots at once. We never got the Prevnar vaccine (the side effects weren't worth the possible protection it offered), and we don't get flu shots. We also didn't allow many vaccines until after 1 year old. Also the three they were supposed to get at one year we delayed until 2-3 years.

My kids get all of their vaccines. I circ my boys too. It's a matter of personal preference for us.

Oh wait, we don't do the flu shot... but that doesnt' count does it?

Yes we do. However, we do not do chicken pox, flu, and our doctor's office doesn't even offer the rotovirus because of the researched deaths the shot caused overseas. So for that, I feel I can trust their doctor. I have boys so they obviously wont be getting the HPV shot, but if I had girls I wouldn't be getting it for them either.

We vaccinated our kids. We were living overseas and there really was no question about it. I do understand that some people are sensitive, but I've seen the affects of not vaccinating first hand, so there was no way I would subject my boys to that!!

My girl(s?) will get the gaurdasil shot. My sister has HPV, my mom had cervical cancer, and my grandmother died from cervical cancer.

With my dd, I did all the vaccines as told without question. But at her 5 year visit, she reacted horribly. Found out afterwards that one of my brothers and several cousins nearly died from vaccination reactions! She has not had a single vaccination since.
With my boys, I refused all until they were one year old. Then we started slowly, did only one or two at a time until they were caught up on what is recommended to be done through 2 years of age. That's where I stopped. No chickenpox, flu, or "female" vaccine. They are way too new and not enough research. I also am suspicious with how hard Gardisal is being pushed on the public.
I do agree that every family needs to make their own decision. However, with my family's history, vaccines have become too risky.

My kids are all vaccinated (as per the schedule at the time). I'm sure the schedule is different now.

My sis had pre-cervical cancer cells removed at 21 so I've got to do a lot more research on the HPV vaccine in the next few years. DD10 is getting close to the allowed age although I do plan to delay it (unless we opt out after further research as more girls use it).

We have gotten all of the vaccinations that the APA recommend. Unless that is that they were new ones right off the press.

We did not do the Rota virus thing.

I will get the HPV for the girls eventually but not until it has been out for a few years.

We did get Chicken pox, not so much do to worry about the CHicken pox them selves ,but becasue there are so many things that are secondary to having had them. Shingles are an axample.

Vantage, we did the chicken pox shot because I have never had it, and as an adult, I don't want to have to suffer the added risks and secondary things that come with it.

Rylee actually got chicken pox from the shot, she was broke out and fevering, but was not contagious. Reagan was just tiny when she got the shot, so we took her to the ER where they told us that it would be very rare for her to be contagious from the shot.. and no one else got it, so she must not have been.
