Tina, if you want to sell HS books, go to Homeschool Classifieds. I buy almost all my used books from there. I've never sold anything, but that's because I don't want to sell ANYTHING until I'm sure I don't want it for Phillip. A friend has sold stuff there, and says it's very easy.

    OK Tina,
If you think you haven't bid enough you can up your bid at any time. Right to the last second, but beware that it takes a few seconds over the computer to get that bid in, so you may want to up it a little earlier.

I have learned not to bid until the last possible reasonable minute. I don't like to bid early, it only tends to make other people to feel they have to bid more earlier. Tends to make things go up in price. I win things that no one in the bid history new that I was watching. I never bid on any day but the last and never till the end. I now now what I will spend. Won't go over it unless it is something really great that I know won't come around often.

Another trick I use is not to end in an even number. Say you want to spend $50 on that coffee pot, I will bid something like $50.23. Maybe the person before you would have bid 50 and since you have the 23 cents attached you will usually get it.

Ebay will automatically bid on your item for you up to the price specified, if someone else outbids you they will send you an email saying that you have been outbid and you can then go in and rebid. Unless of course it is in the last little bit and you won't get notified.

Now if you really want this coffee pot (and we all know you NEED that coffee pot LOL!!!) You can bid some rediculuous amount to ensure you get it. You know what it is worth, and what it is worth to you, and you can just bid more than what you think anyone else will bid. I have only bid a huge amount on something that I pretty much knew that no one else would chance and the bid only will go up to the next increment anyway, not to what you actually bid (thank goodness). I can't remember if there was anything else you needed help with, but if there is, please ask (or ask again) and I'll see what I can do.

    Happy Ebaying!
    Kim

Ending with an odd number in your bid is a good idea, but if bids go up in incriments of .25 then I would say go .27

also, if its a very rare item and well worth it to you bid kind of how you feel is high, but still willing to give. However it will show up again some time soon people keep adding stuff all the time, look at "just listed"
I couldn't believe that there were 7 pages of percolators!! either a lot of people are clearing out their attics or they are still pretty popular (however most of them didn't have bids yet)

My son and my mother order from ebay all the time. The only bad experiences (and I mean BAD) had to do with computers. You might really check the feedback and email the person and ask questions if it is over $100. Just my opinion.
