I have been applying for every single job I see on the health network in our area most of which require being able to take French verbal commands (easy peasy)... some require more in-depth knowledge and ability to speak better French - I think I'm still ok.

I had almost given up any hope of hearing from any of those positions until this morning when I had a phone call from a nurse manager who wants to hire me but I have to have the French testing interview done first (because it is an externally posted bilingual position).

I do still speak French (albeit not very often in this area) PLEASE pray that it is sufficient for the level of French required and that I am offered this position.

    UPDATE: SQUEAL!! Deep breath Brenda

I have been applying for absolutely every LPN position I see on the health website (except for ones in Moncton). All of them require French speaking applicants.

I just had another phone call for a FULL TIME position (same hospital as the other one, different unit). IF I pass the French testing interview, the position is mine!!!

PLEASE PRAY that I pass it

The interview is scheduled for next Tuesday morning at 9:45 at the human resource office in Fredericton (60 miles south of me). I'm told it's a phone interview but I have to go into the HR office to show ID to say I am who I say I am and that it only takes about 15 minutes.

We just got the van back today  (don't even go there) but I'm going to need to rent a vehicle to travel to Fredericton in (I don't trust the van as far as I can throw it right now).

Hopeful for positive outcomes from the interview but VERY VERY discouraged about the van

Car problems stink! SO stressful! Particularly stinky that you have to deal with that on top of interview nerves.

Hoping and praying for a good outcome:) Keep us posted.

I'm anxious/excited for the interview :) There isn't a lot of opportunity to speak French around here but I'm still confident I can complete it at the required level without a big problem (I'm not much caring for the idea that it is done over the phone).

I had a similar interview in 2004 so I have a general idea of how it's going to go (and so I'm preparing for it based on the past) and the kinds of questions/statements they will make and how I should respond to them.

As for me getting there, I'm sure the van would probably get me there and back but given the fact it has been down more in the past month than it has been working, I've reserved a rental to get me there and back... don't want to take any chances on something happening that I don't end up there for it.

Lord knows I need this job, He knows the needs, He has a plan... just have to trust His timing (and believe me when is ay it's painfully difficult to do some days).

Crossing fingers. Good back up plan with the rental. Maybe a new job would mean a newer car pretty soon? Sure hope you get it, Brenda. Will be praying:)

Two more sleeps and the anxiety is starting to creep up on me. So much is dependent on the successful pass at the required level.

Pray that the words flow as freely as they need to for this and for peace going into this.

You're gonna do great, Brenda! You know this stuff. Just breathe and focus. You're gonna nail it.

Will definitely pray for calmness and composure. You really don't need anything else....you've got this.

Stay positive! Prayers coming your way:) Keep us posted!

Brenda, just put the whole thing in God's hands so you can rest and relax. He's got it all.

I'm home, the interview is done and behind me now. I was (mostly) at peace going down (until I got there and then got a little nerved up). The 15 minute interview was actually close to 30 minutes.... it's all good.

I won't say that I did or didn't do well because I am my own worst critic but when push comes to shove, if the interviewer can see past the anxiety, I think I did well enough to pass at the required level (and possibly the one above the minimum requirement).

Preliminary results will be made available to the nurse manager in about 5 days, my certificate of proficiency will be mailed to me in about 10 days. On this side of it all, I'm at peace with it... hopeful that I have been successful but afraid to get my hopes up at the same time.

The words flowed easily most of the time (until I allowed myself to get nervous). Stop... deep breath and continue on is what I did. God knows the need and He will supply those needs whether it's this way or by something else.

Once the results are made known to the nurse managers, I should know whether it's at the level required or not. I'm hoping to hear as early as next week (5 days usually)
