Marylyn, you come back to Ohio for a visit, and we'll send Charles and Carl to the park with the kids, and you and I will do a Remington Steele marathon!

The gift that was the most special and most unexpected, was the gift of seeing my dear friend from Jr. High. We used to be so close and as we grew up, we grew apart. I was so joyful at seeing her. She has always held a special place in my heart. Although it wasn't a planned gift here on earth, I am positive it was planned and given from above.:D

Jackie: it is a peg loom that you put little circles of fabric on and it makes kind of a pot holder. I guess its more of a hook than a needle.

Patty: this year I recieved a Christmas card from a long time friend I hadn't spoken to since I was pregnant with the twins, for a reason that she did not know. I sent her a 3 page letter explaining the event that caused me to stop being friends. I havn't heard back from her yet, I'm wondering if she understood.

Patty, I have a friend like that. She and I were so close when we were kids and I loved her so much. Then life happened and we grew apart. I don't see her often but when I do we still have that special bond. We can just start talking like we had seen each other the day before. I hate that we grew apart. I don't know her children and she only slightly knows mine but I will always think of her as one of my best friends.

Amy, I can't visualize that at all! But I'm sure it's very interesting. Faythe likes anything like that!

Joyce's favorite ( she loved everything) was her Warriors book and another book My Friend Flicka that came with a necklace of a horse that she really loves. Jane's favorites were a candle and an oriental fan cardboard box I found in Hobby Lobby. My favorite was a plaque Jane made and translated the poem into Italian. A friend of mine form HS sent us a stove top popcorn popper that we are really enjoying.

Jackie, it was a long hook that looks like a crochet hook, plastic purple, so you would think that we would find it if it was on the floor. It helps the loops get through to the other side. (rose art brand)

Jennifer, I think I can imagine the fan box, my aunt used to make them but she padded the top with batting and covered with fabric, the bottom and sides were covered with fabric. They made nice jewlery boxes. And we used to make fan shaped photo frames, with 3 or 5 places for a photo, think like pecock feathers layered to look like an oriental fan, the circle part at the tips would be the photo spot, and we either put a picture in every other one or every one. We embelished with lace and craft beads, so pretty , wish I had one still.

TM, yes, I'm sure we've had to look for the tv changer there. She stayed in the kitchen, I've got to move the water bottles to see if they are there. (at least they are empty)

This is the first Christmas where we said "no video games/consoles" and actually stuck with it. My kids LOVE their EyeToy, they have the same game your kids have and Mr. Chef is one of their favorites, that one and the guitar player (the music is annoying after awhile but they love it). I consider it PE and I really want to get the Kinetics (aerobics) one now, for all of us since we are stuck inside for the next few months and aren't able to be outdoors getting exercise as much as we do the rest of the year.

We bought our ds15 a drumset, luckily I grew up in a family of musicians and don't mind the noise but I'm sure the neighbors are wanting to smack me lol. We have a newer neighbor across the street who is a really great drummer and plays every afternoon and that sparked my ds's interest so we ran with it. He is actually very good and really surprised us with his natural talent.

We gave our ds14 three different Erector set kits to go with the one he got on his birthday in November, and he is in heaven. Our dd12 is quite the artist so we gave here a ton of supplies for painting and she is using the Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" series DVD to guide her. Once I can, I will post a picture of her first painting, it is just incredible. She has such a gift in everything artistic and I just love Bob Ross ~ what a great teacher he is.

We also bought them all a game that is surprisingly a huge hit with all of us, called "Worst Case Scenario". It is all about what actions to take in various situations, and is such a great learning game.

Overall the non video game Christmas went over well, thank goodness!

Thanks, Michelle, for listing it as EyeToy. I don't know why I keep calling it "EyeSpot". I'm still with the online school and I was just thinking today if I could consider it P.E. I'm glad to think that someone else thinks that it's a legitimate workout!!

It definitely leaves my kids sweating! Since we live in the artic here in Montana we have to get creative with our PE so I figure if it makes them sweat, it counts! ;)

If you get time, check out the EyeToy Kinetics, it is our next purchase. I think it runs about $50.

Here is a blurb from the company about it:

EyeToy: Kinetic is dubbed as an innovative physical exercise title, which allows players to improve not only their general fitness, but also reactions, posture, balance, breathing and all-round body toning and conditioning – proving once and for all that videogames aren’t necessarily bad for your health and hopefully rectifying some criticism during these “fat” obsessed times we live in.

you all are making me wish I had gotten one! My kids have been asking for this for ever!
maybe this could be clasified as a school supply and I can get one still?
I will keep my eyes open in January sales!

TeacherMom, I would think it would classify as a P.E. equipment.

It also could be counted as health ed. have the kids locate pulse, teach them how to check pulse for no activitiy and the difference after they are active. Also teach them that if they are sweating, (body water evaporation) then they have to replace that water. ---which in turn you can talk about how your cells need water to function. And how our body is made of 90% water.

    Ok, now play games!!!

We got a dance pad (for a gamecube) for Christmas, but have no idea what game goes with it. Anyone know? I saw a Mario game, but it comes with its own dance pad.

I think it goes with Gamecube DDR Mario (Dance Dance Revolution) and you can either buy the game with the dance pad or the game and pad separately.

    How fun!!
