NO ONE is going to shun or ignore you for such a silly thing!!! YOU have to decide what works best for YOU!!! What I or anyone else decides to do is right for ME, and doesn't have to be right for YOU!!! You've been around here long enough that most of us consider our relationship with each other more important than where you chose to shop!

I think these decisions are personal and should be made prayerfully. God will not speak to all of us the same on certain things due to different plans and avenues He has for us.

Now, if Home Depot just put a sign up but does not financially support causes that conflict with your beliefs then I'm not sure there is an issue here. However, Home Depot has been known to support homosexual causes in the past.

I just don't know...I don't feel bad about going to see Toy Story 3, even with Disney's stand on homosexual issues...so I could be completely wrong. I'm in conflict now...LOL...since I know there are places I would not shop due to what they support so why not Disney. UGH...

Anyway...shunning and boycotting are different. Boycotting a store or national chain is NOT a statement on an individual but on how a business conducts their fiances and in turn how our shopping there contributes to causes we would not personally support. A company is using their status and power to support a cause and then dragging us into it no matter how we feel about it. Well...boycotting tells them that we are not going to allow them to give our money to a cause we do not support.

Shunning...well..that is about an individual. I do see instances where shunning may be in order. However, I would say that MOST times it is not the proper avenue. I cannot judge this in whole as I believe this is an individual decision based on individual circumstances.

I just don't think a business should be supporting causes. I think they need to say unbiased to be fair to everyone. They are NOT a political entity not should they be used for one. I don't mind them supporting local causes like schools, homeless, food banks or things that help the community in whole..but not organizations that are steeped in political debate. A store should do what a store does...period.

Okay..consider this my last post concerning you..and you are on my ignore list. LOL...LOL..JUST KIDDING.

Personally, I don't care where you shop. That is your business. I don't think it reflects on you in a moral manner one way or another. These are personal decisions. The discussion is why one would choose to boycott and why someone else chooses to shop there. I don't think it's a sin to shop at home depot or anywhere else. I am just expressing my personal freedom to not shop at certain places because I do not think it is there place to make a stand in that area. The sign could be about something I supported and I still would think they should stay unbiased.

Oh and I had people give me a hard time at shopping at Wal-Mart and driving a foreign car. Well, Wal-Mart really did have a better price and my car is more reliable than most. While, I do not always agree with Wal-Mart practices...I do shop there every now and again. I also cannot guarantee I would NEVER shop at Home Depot again. If I had the choice, I'd go to Lowe's...however, I'd go to Lowe's anyway...LOL.

Isn't Toy Story 3 a great movie? We took our younger daughter and her friend to see it in 3D over the weekend. No violence, no choice language, no innuendo, just a fun story with good guys and bad guys. A 'G' movie in every sense.

I haven't shopped at Home Depot in more than a year because of some VERY bad customer service there on more than one occasion. But that's just for my local store, of course. That being said, I don't think this thread would have caused me to avoid it. I RARELY shop at Walmart because I do not agree with their business practices. It's not a full on boycott, but more an avoidance based on a personal choice. But I also won't see any movie with Tom Cruise in it, and that's because the Lord told me not to. Most of my "boycotts" have to do with the entertainment industry because that's where my focus is most of the time. But I don't boycott Disney. The Lord never told me to.

He calls each of us to act according to His will and it may be different for everyone. Well, at least in as far as things that aren't clearly sins are concerned.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard great reviews from Plugged In (Focus on the Family's movie review site).

AGREED! I was worried the innocence of Toy Story 3 would be compromised but I was wrong. I will be buying that one as soon as it comes out!

Rachael went with a bunch of teens to see it, and LOVED it. I've not heard anything bad about it! (And yes, I DID read Plugged In!)

I don't care where they shop, it doesn't bother me and I don't care what home depot does. Other stores do things I don't like but if I need something at that store I go, get my stuff and leave.

Ech. I ABSOLUTELY SHOP ACCORDING TO MY CONVICTIONS. ALthough some things like that are so hard.

For example: the Susan B Komen foundation is a huge donater to PlannedParenthood.....

and I HATE Wal-mart, but at the same time they were the only large corporation the had pharmacies that refused to sell the morning after pill (when it was available only with prescription-it's over the counter now for anyone 17+)....

I don't believe in not shopping someplace because of the patronage, but I do believe you shold shop according to what you believe-not just whats convenient (although-nowadays I can do both online sooooo......)

    CHILDREN'S CRAFTS!!! HAHAHAHAAAAAAAA.........

Cuz if they don't get em young.....ech.

I'm not prejudice, I swear, but it looks/sounds/ and probably smelled (between diapers and glue) like they're using the kids...in quite a few ways, not the least of which is press coverage.....and if it quacks, and waddles....and smells yummy in the oven-it's probably a duck.

Oh and I most likely will forget that I banned Home Depot...so if in the future you hear me saying I went there, it's because I forgot. lol. Seriously...these things slip my mind..it's terrible because I sound all convicted and all but then it just falls out of my head. lol

P&G was the one I was really boycotting a while back. But there were SO MANY P&G products!!! Everytime I went to buy toothpaste or TP or something, Rachael would ask me, "Is that made by P&G?" And now, even though I'm not boycotting P&G anymore (because they backed off), there's still plenty of P&G products that I no longer buy because I've found other brands that work just as well, and are cheaper.

If you boycott Home Depot for sponsoring Gay Pride events, then you'll also have to boycott the following companies:

    - Microsoft
    - Bank of America
    - Avis Rent-a-Car
    - Aetna Insurance
    - Starbucks
    - Washington Mutual
    - Ford
    - Kraft Foods
    - Wells Fargo
    - Macy's
    - Nike
    - Albertsons
    - Amtrak
    - AirTran
    - Embassy Suites
    - Proctor & Gamble
    - Fifth Third Bank
    - Delta Airlines
    - Coca Cola
    - Frito Lay
    - Hyatt Hotels
    - InterContinental Hotels (that's Holiday Inn etc.)
    - Starwood Hotels (that's Sheraton etc.)
    - Verizon Wireless
    - Red Bull
    - Pepsi
    - Sirius Satellite Radio
    - Radisson Hotels
    - Kaiser Permanente
    - Hyundai
    - Price Waterhouse Coopers
    - Prudential Insurance
    - Petco
    - Sun Trust Bank
    - AAA
    - Honda
    - Best Buy
    - Progressive Insurance
    - Walgreens
    - Hampton Inn
    - American Family Insurance
    - Cardinal Health
    - Key Bank
    - State Farm Insurance
    - Target
    - Time Warner
    - AARP
    - Capital One
    - Liberty Mutual
    - Wachovia
    - Comcast
    - Intuit

And this is just a partial list that I found in just a few minutes of searching. Many TV and radio stations, state organizations and agencies, local companies and hospitals, and even some churches sponsor Gay Pride events across the US.

PS - I hope my wife doesn't look at the History log in my browser.

EXACTLY!!! That's why I said it's not possible to boycott ALL the organizations that support gay rights. So I try to stick with the ones that are most "in your face".

Um I must've misunderstood something. I thought this discussion was to be open about our opinions about how we shop, which is exactly what I thought you did.

Just because someone like me says they don't like that kids were involved, or someone else says they won't shop there doesn't mean because you disagree you're wrong. Or that you should be quiet.

Personally, I like that so many of us can say so many different things.
