DH had the choice between Faythe Nicole or Joy Nicole. (I'm a former teacher...I believe in treating husbands like children...give them "guided" choices.... :D )

I had a totally different name chosen for Poppet before she was born (dh had no choice ), but when she was born and I was asked her name, something else came out ! Knowing her personality, the first choice (Hannah Grace) wouldn't have been appropriate :D!

I"ve a friend who doesn't even THINK about names until they bring the baby home from the hospital. They spend time "getting to know" the baby, and deciding what seems to "fit" it. She has done this with nine kids!!! Unlike me, who had names picked out way in advance! Rachael's name was decided upon while we were still engaged!

Me too Jackie! My oldest ds would've had my dd's name if he would've been a girl, and so would my second ds! We FINALLY got our girl and were able to use the first name we both liked from BK (Before Kids)! :D

I wouldn't think you could leave the hospital without having all that information recorded, though. They wanted Jeannie's name either later that day or the next day.

Someone we know couldn't decide, so they just put Baby on the name line. When they DID decide, they had to legally change her name from baby to the name they chose!

I was always ready with the name, cuz when they're newborns they just look like....well...like little babies! My first looked much different after couple or three weeks than he did the first few days, so I would've had to change his name, since he changed how he looked! At least that's what it seems like to me. We just came up with names that meant something to us or that we really liked, then the kids grew into it, I guess. :D

You know, I still remember Jeannie- hours old- laying in that little tray thing just looking around, as though this was the most interesting place she had ever seen. She's still interested in things in that same way.

And she's just as laid back as she was as a baby.

Maybe Ohio is different, or maybe it's the hospital authority just trying to push their weight around. Can they legally tell you that you can NOT leave with your baby if it doesn't have a name? My friend took all nine of her kids home without a name; the youngest one is 4.
