Leslie I will be praying for you. I hope things keep getting better for you.
In my view I love the chiropractors I go to them every change I get. I miss them since I been down south.

Great Leslie! Glad it worked out well for you! I think God blessed you cuz you were doing a good deed! :D Now I'll be the mother-hen: Don't overdo it! Take it easy and be nice to your back, and it will be nice to you! :)

I had therapy today. My back is better and she increased my activity level. Said I could now walk on my treadmill! So...here we go...time for me to get my...uh...rear in gear! LOL I am a little sore after the new stretching exercises she did with me today, but still better than I was. I talked to my SIL and she has a bike trainer which allows you to ride your bike indoors when you can't be outside. It is some kind of stand for the bike. She is going to let me borrow it so I can ride. I think I might be more apt to ride a bike more than walking on the treadmill...at least it will give me options that I can switch between when I get tired of doing one or the other, you know?

Thanks for your prayers...keep them coming...they truly are working!

Yes, and by the way, I had called the doctor yesterday to tell him about the muscle spasms and he called in a muscle relaxer. Well, I am very hestitant in taking meds but I thought if I just have them on hand then I would have it if I get into trouble. Anyway, as the day went on I felt better and better and never even picked up the med from the pharmacy! YEAH!

Scott has had his fair share of spasms. He says they are the worst part of all of it. He is in therapy another 4 weeks after Christmas.
I hate to hear your is acting up. Take good care of yourself over the holidays. Also Scott's back doctor said riding an exercise bike doesn't help your back muscles at all. I had ask today since we have one at home. Scott had been trying to ride it every day thinking it was helping him maybe. Doc said NO.
He wants bending exercises and walking.

Merry Christmas ---I hope it is a good one for you all.

I've had back spasms (ouch!!) and muscle relaxers definitely take care of them - but they knock me out. By all means take them if the spasms get bad, but do it when there is someone else around to take care of your little folk.

Of course I over-react to pain medicines anyway. And cold meds, too. If the fine print on the back says anything about a slight chance that it may possibly cause a hint of drowsiness, it will knock me completely loopy (granted, that's a very short trip!) and then I'll be asleep for hours. You'd think I was 4 foot 6 and only weighed 72 pounds or something.. Actually I'm 5'9" and weigh well over 200. It's just as well I don't drink!

All that aside, I'm SO glad you are feeling better and I'm continuing to pray for you! :)

Thanks for the tip on the bike riding. That is good to know...disappointing, but good to know! :)

My physical therapist said I should go get the muscle relaxer just to have on hand in case I do need it at some point. I have taken them before, and usually I try and just take them when I am ready for bed....just in case! LOL But thankfully, my kids are at an age where if I HAD to take it during the day, they could help me out. (they are 10 and 11).

Maylyn, I'm 5'9" also! My sister is like you--she can take 1/2 a dose and be asleep for hours! I have the opposite reaction though---I could double a dose (which I don't unless the doc okays it) and it still doesn't make me sleepy! I WISH something would make me sleepy---I don't sleep well at night! If there's a minute chance of getting queasy or a headache---I do those things! But though one cup of coffee, even before noon, can keep me awake far into the night, even sleeping pills don't affect me at all!

I received a sample of a night-time pain reliever one time that was supposed to help you sleep. I was up all night! I felt so wired it was scary. My sis is real bad with meds. We are RH negative so we have to get a rhogam shot when we are pregnant. I have had at least 8 with no side effects where as Beth went into premature labor not long after getting the shot. Even asprin will throw her for a loop. Jane took a cold pill last winter and we ended up at the ER due to an allergic reaction. The bad thing is, the ingredient is one that is in many cold and cough meds.

Yes Kris, I am tall. Most of my friends are shorter than me, so they call me their "Token tall Person"! They say they only have me as a friend so I can reach things in the cupboards and stuff like that! :D I know that's not true. I think they also like me for my great intelligence! Hahaha! Choke!

Others have said this, but I'll say it again: Wouldn't it be fun to have a get-together and meet each other in person? I'm sure we'd be surprised at the difference between our mental images of each other & reality! Then, it would be fun to tell each other our previous stereotypes of how we used to imagine each other to be and laugh about it.

How's your back today, Leslie? I've been asking the Lord to remove your & my dislike of exercise & to replace it with gratitude that we can move. In the meantime, I'm praying for more relief for you each day.

Thank you so much, PH...I know your prayers are helping me. I am feeling pretty good today. I can tell the selling in my back is way down and I am able to do my exercises a little more "freely" today. I am going to get on my bike this afternoon for a little while. I know it won't help my back so much, but I figure it will help with my energy level and get me going!!

I would LOVE to meet eveyone. We would have so much fun. Maybe someday....

Great! 'So glad to hear the swelling is down! Did you ever figure out what triggered the attack this time? Surely just lack of enough activity wouldn't do it. Did the doctors have any idea? I did think of you as I spent a few minutes on our mini-trampoline & hoped you'd have a good report. Thanks for the update.

Leslie, I'm so glad your back is better!

Also, I wanted to tell you that my dd ran into a little snag, plus busy-ness, and hasn't gotten the surprise for your dd out yet. But it's coming. Maybe a New Year's surprise???! Sorry about that!

Oh, and Prairie, can you add me to your list of prayers for the dislike of exercise?! I need it! :)

PH...we are thinking it was from a few days of babysitting my nephew....he is 11 months old and in the 95% of his weight!!! A big boy! So holding him and caring for him with a weak back just was too much for me. That is exactly why it is so important for me to exercise and keep my back strengthened!!!!! You'd think I'd actually learn from all my history of back trouble, wouldn't you?????

Deena, thanks so much for your encouragment. And please don't feel like you have to do anything for my dd. She is not expecting anything and just has been really into the "giving" this year ! :) I am so proud of her.

Leslie, she's been planning this for some time---she loves giving too! :) Just got busy and it didn't get all done in time for it to be a Christmas thing.

How are the exercises coming along? I made it to Curves Wednesday morning and this morning, so at least I got two of those in. I am going to try to take a walk outside or walk on the treadmill sometime today also. I REALLY want to get back into this!

I rode the bike a couple of times this week. But today I am a little achey. I decided to rest today. I did do my stretching exercises, but only once. I think it's just going to take time to get back to normal. I need to remember to go slow. I am so quick to jump back into normal routine when I am feeling good, but that is not always the best thing to do.

Thank you all for your prayers.
