I do too Brenda, especially since I have heard it before and heard the punchline, and I must say it is not appropriate for this kind of website in the least. I am not a prude and do listen to the occassional, what I call, "man humor", but this is neither the thread or forum/website to be telling jokes that are of that nature. Furthermore, the punchline isn't even in that category, it's just plain disgusting.

Guys, I know what you're saying and I agree, but keep in mind that RB is new here, and it may be that she needs to just get use to us and us to her. So let's try to cut her a little slack. After all, we DO want her to feel welcome!

Not to sound rude to any newcomers, but when you read the thread, common sense does tell you that there is a serious tone to it. It's nice to be able to open up and I like good jokes like the next person, but a website such as this does not need leud and dirty jokes attached to it. I am sure Amanda would not appreciate them. Jokes to lighten up the atmosphere are one thing, dirty and inappropriate jokes are another.

Please stick around and feel welcome, but everyone does need to use mature judgement.

How do we know RB is a female? I didn't denote that in any of RB's posts. I reread all the posts this person made, and there's nothing to denote a female.
    RB could also be DCook...

Jackie, you need to be less trusting and all of us need to stop tiptoeing lest someone think we're a little less of a Christian for speaking out.

Actually, it did occur to me that RB might be a guy, but it's too complicated to write he/she/it, so I wrote "she", because it went with the odds. And I plan on continuing to do so until I have reason to do otherwise. Am going to send you a PM!

Syele, Thanks for being so honest and sharing with us. Maybe it has opened some folks eyes. I know several gays and they are wonderful people. I think people tend to think of them in ugly ways not as wonderful people. One I know well is a wonderful man who would lay down his life for me in a second. He loves everyone with an open heart. Never shows any affection to his lover in front of me or my family. My kids don't even know that he is gay. They do know they live together. He loves my kids and would never open a door to them that I don't want opened.
Thanks again for sharing with us.

You're welcome to everyone who thanked me. It is such a hard subject because you never know what point people are at.

Josh, I don't believe God will be angry because we show comapssion. Jesus Showed compassion for sinners all throughout the New testament. Lot a lived in a city that was judged by God and was allowed to leave there and not be killed because he was found to be righteous! I think God handled judging those people just fine, and those who needed Judging were Judged By HIM. I don't think it is my place to judge people who lost their homes. Many times the compassion we show is what makes people want to know more about God, it can often be a point where people Come to know God! It is God's place to judge, not ours. If we were barred from helping people in serious need, there would be a lot fewer Christians!

RB, I hope that was only an attempt to lighten things up, but that sort of joke is not good here. Thanks for trying to make it lighter, next time please consider the audience before posting.

    RB is a man of course.lol.I'm 36 & fairly good looking........6'3" 205lb's with little body fat.Brow Hair, Brown eye's.lol

Now the reason I posted that silly question is I think folks get worked over the gay thing. And to me it's silly. The sensus claims they make up 2 percent of the population & the gay crowd claims 4........so either way it aint much to get worked up about. And BTW I actually have 2 lesbian friends that live together & have been committed to each other for 4 years now so get off your high horses. We cut up & joke about all kinds of things. It's a shame they aint hot though.lol

    Relax folks.lol

Hummmm...some how I knew from that joke that you had to be male. No offense, I originally heard the joke from my husband who has the same sense of humor.

RB, it's not that we're prudes or that we don't have a sense of humor. It's that this forum is not for those kinds of inappropriate jokes. There are many people that come to this forum for advice and support, some homeschool children/teenagers, so those kinds of jokes just are not appropriate, that's all. It's a nice gesture to want to lighten the moment, but there are other jokes to lighten up the mood that are more appropriate for this atmosphere....SO, if you have any others that are not dirty...joke away.

It's not the gay/lesbian issue that is of concern to me - I'm no better than they are... the tone of language if someone would have answered that 'joke' is where my issues lie. I'm thankful I didn't have children sitting with me when I saw it and then ask questions that I don't feel I should have to answer (because of a vulgar comment).

We use our sense of humor when making jokes with other users... no one has to be crude about it. There is a time and a place for it and this isn't it - sorry.

Yeah, it wasn't that you joked about lesbians, it was that the joke was inappropriate for moms and their little kiddos.

Jokes are good, just keep the little eyes from seeing stuff they shouldn't see.

So, RB, you homeschool? You never introduced yourself.
How many kids do you have?
    Are you married?
What curriculum are you looking into?
Do you work or are you stay at home?

Just out of curiosity, what's your middle initial?

If you guys don't mind me changing the subject, I'd like to go back a couple steps...

First I'd like to say that what I said about Houston possibly receiving judgment was pure speculation. I did not wish any harm to come to that city and I have friends who live there. I agree that God probably would not punish us for showing compassion, my point was that He might. There were some who fled to Houston from the Superdome that were not innocent and deserve death. There were reports of all sorts of unspeakable evils coming from that stadium which proved to me that they didn't even get the hint that God was trying to give them and by housing those people, Houston opened themselves up to be the setting for God's further wrath on those sinners. That is all. God shows abundant mercy on us all, but we can wear out His patience to the point of elimination as both saved and unsaved.

In the Bible, there is case after case where some of the children of Israel turned from God and as a result God removed His blessing from His people and even in some cases cursed the entire nation. The righteous and the unrighteous suffered equally during those times and also during the period of judgment when God had finally had enough.

The only times the righteous escaped God's judgment of the unrighteous was when they put the unrighteous away from among them mostly through the execution and death of the guilty. Not when they accepted the sinners and tried to coexist with them. The story of Achan in the 7th chapter of Joshua comes to mind where the sin of Achan caused Israel to lose a battle against Ai, which resulted in the death of 36 innocent soldiers. There would have been more if Joshua hadn't purged that sin from their nation by executing Achan and his whole family. Another example is in Numbers 25 where Israel was guilty of whoredom with the daughters of Moab and idolatry and God cursed them with a plague that killed 24,000 Israelites. In that case God commanded that Moses to "Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel." (Numbers 25:4) To which Moses responded by telling the judges of Israel to, "Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor." (Verse 5) And the plague was lifted by the execution of two people caught in their sin at the hands of a Levite armed with a javelin. (Verses 6-8 )

My purpose for sharing this isn't to say that we should go out and kill people as individuals in order to lift God's hand of judgment, but rather to say that our government isn't doing what God commanded a government to do with sinners worthy of death and as a result we have all these people walking around who should've, according to God's law, been executed a long time ago. (Notice it was Moses and Joshua who commanded the leaders in Israel to do the executing in the situations mentioned above. Not just random people.) Because of this the Bible clearly shows that when the government drops the ball, God takes matters into His own hands and often when He does, we all get what we deserve. And I say deserve because those of us that tolerate and even encourage those of us worthy of death are also bound to the same fate as clearly seen in scripture.

Now what do I mean when I say "those worthy of death"? I mean those who commit sins worthy of physical death as listed in the Old Testament. Some of those sins worthy of the death penalty are murder (Exodus 21:12), slavery (Exodus 21:16), cursing one’s father or mother (Exodus 21:17), not containing one’s animal which results in the death of another person (Exodus 21:29), child sacrifice (Leviticus 20:2), adultery (Leviticus 20:10), incest (Leviticus 20:11-12, 20:14), sodomy (Leviticus 20:13), witchcraft (Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 20:27), beastiality (Exodus 22:19, Leviticus 20:15-16), and blasphemy (Leviticus 20:16). As you can see, some of these sins were widely accepted in New Orleans and are widely accepted in the rest of America today. Should it surprise us if God chooses to enforce His own laws?

It is true that God is merciful, but God is also just, and justice demands the execution of those who violate these laws. God made these laws for our own good and for our protection. He would be doing us a favor by removing those guilty of these sins from among us. We would be doing ourselves a favor if our judicial system removed these people from among us.

I’d also like to add that physical death is a natural consequence of the afore mentioned sins. Salvation only saves us from the eternal consequences of our sins. We are still required to pay the earthly price for our sins whether saved or unsaved. If a Christian murders, he should be put to death. If a Christian steals, he should be required to make Biblical restitution.

Lastly I want to point out that not every sin was punished by death. One of those sins was stealing as I mentioned above. Thieves were not put to death but were forced to make restitution. (Exodus 22:1-13) Therefore, stealing is less of a “sin” than murder or sodomy. Hence not all sins are equal even though they all will send us to Hell if we do not repent and accept God's Salvation.

Josh, the consequences of ALL sin is death, not just those listed. God's justice demands it from ALL of us, which is why Christ died. Houston did what it did to make a bad situation a little better. I might add that here in Ohio, one city welcomed the refugees in a group, then asked for certain people to go into a room for a special "meeting". Turned out there were officers in there; someone had done a background check on them, and arrested anyone that came up with a warrant on them!!!

Jackie, you are right. Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God." and Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Notice that both of these verses deal with salvation from eternal damnation not physical consequences. That's why they say "come short of the glory or God" (Not worthy of Heaven) and "the gift of God is eternal life" (Heaven) as opposed to death (Hell). When I said that not all sin was worthy of death, I was talking about physical death throgh execution from this earth. There is a difference between death by damnation and death by execution. Please note that at the end of my post I spoke about how salvation only saves us from our eternal consequences (not physical) and I acknoweldged that all sins were worthy of spiritual death. So you and I are both right when speaking in spiritual term but not beyond that.
