Well my boys won't be chanting! I never liked Obama even if he is African American. I always tell my kids they can be and can do whatever they want regardless of race. For my kids , being African American and thinking they couldn’t do something because of it has never entered their minds.

I don’t have a problem with African American role models for African American kids, but I do have a problem when a man who has made history by becoming the first African American president , doesn’t live up to his promises. What message does that really give to African American youth. For a child like my son who is really into politics, all he sees is Obama the first African American president who has not kept his promises. What am I suppose to say when he looks at me and asks me why did he lie to us? Why has he not done what he said he would do? On a side note, I will add that young DS is very republican, but he really rooted for Obama to win and he was happy when he did. Now all he has is disappointment. You can’t be a role model for anyone if you don’t have integrity.

Ava that is funny you mentioned Black history being only a month. That is why we have it as a part of our regular curriculum. Actually we school year around so our history is broken up into sections. US History, World History, Cultural History. 4 months for each one.

Has anybody seen the book America's History in Black and White, from www.wallbuilders.com ? Saw it on Glenn Beck (FoxNews), and it sounds really good. It's said to tell tons of "unknown" history about the black founding fathers of this nation as well as the white ones, people we never heard of before, and how they all were fighting together, each in their own way, for the freedom of this country. Not just Crispus Attucks. Until I heard about this book, I did not know that there had ever been a black pastor of a majority-white church, never mind that they (the church) were involved in the fight for independence. I'm going to get this book as soon as I can afford it.

Saw it on Glenn Beck as well. I have alot of the books he has reccomended. We watch him everyday. His show on indoctrination in schools actually cemented our decision to homeschool.
