okay SO Jackie and Deena, which one do you liek best? I think both Video Text and TT are similar but one is more seeing the work worked otu not a person standing there am I right?
And cost wise you have one price to pay for TT where as there are many times you have to purchast the next Module with VT?
so ti adds up doesnt it?
I could get 3 modules at one time for 100 but that was a special sale, , still even with that I would have to spend more than 300 to get through geometry am I correct?
I am not only asking for myself but other folks who may be reading this. I like to ask questions that help spell things out clear.
    Now, one more
With the Tt it looks like it has a teacher book and a video learning lesson , and a student book for 185? is that what someone said?

I can't speak for VT. TT has one VERY LARGE textbook/workbook that is spiral bound It also has an Anwer Key and Test Bank. This is a smaller, seperate book. It contains tests, plus short answers to the test and all workbook problems. Then there are three sets of CD's. The Lecture and Practice CD's contain 4 discs. The solutions CDs contain 6 discs, and are in depth answers explaining all the problems in the textbook. Then there's a one more CD that explains the test answers in depth. That's what you get for $185. That's a total of 11 CDs, one test/answer book, and the textbook/workbook.

Wow, that is a lot! So they show what the answeris on the CD? AFTER they take the test? Is that so if they should get it wrong they can find out why?
    How cool if it is!
I wish someone could have gone over ALL my wrong work, in 8th grade I had a teacher who did! HE was awesome!
It really made a difference in my math skills!
Helped me understand that Algberbra does nto make sence, it just has to be done correctly according to it's rules.

That's it exactly. Not only the tests, but ALL the problems. If you have trouble with problem 14 in lesson 145, you can go DIRECTLY to that problem and see how it's done. And you can play it again and again if you want, until you understand it.

That's really the "selling point" for me. If Rachael missed a problem, there were times I couldn't figure it out to tell her how they got the answer.

Sorry, Nellie! My problem is that I get e-mail notifications of threads I've responded to. I just click the link and then make comments on the comments, sometimes without even being aware of what the "topic" originally was! But you're right!!!

Oh, I don't mean to be right...I just don't want (TT sh...) to be mentioned in the Least Fav's. :(

There is lots of room in the math threads or the Favorites thread!

This is the biggest one on math talk. :)

The VT videos (or dvd's) go over sample problems and explain how things are done. There is a Student WorkText, which I already explained what is included in it, there are 6 "Modules", A-F, and there is a Student WorkText for each Module (as opposed to one large workbook for the whole thing), there is a book of Progress Tests, which has quizzes and tests for the lessons in that module, a course notes book--which has diagrams and explanations for the problems, there is a Solutions Manual for each module, that has just the answers, then there is the Instructor's Guide with Detailed Solutions for Progress Tests---which, as it sounds, has detailed, step by step solutions for the work they do.

So that's what's included in each module of VideoText. I don't know that you could neccesarily say TT or VT are better. It looks like they have many of the same components, just presented in a little different way. VT has the person talking, but also does just seeing what the teacher is writing thing. So, it depends on the student's preferences. I'd never heard of TT when I got VT. I think they're both good programs.

If I knew how to move this somewhere else, I would. But since TMom's question was here, I only know how to answer it here.....

Another advantage of VT, is that we can purchase the individual modules seperately (sometimes used). That way if it doesn't work, we don't have a terribly lot invested. Also, for one of our children, the very large workbook of TT with everything shown at once might seem overwhelming.

On the dislike list is LLATL for English. Too itsy~bitsy & not enough actual reading of good books. Am going to try Sonlight instead.

My kids didn't particularly care for it, so we moved on to other things also.

I do agree with the LLATL opinions above. TLP is what I had hoped LLATL was going to be.

    Total Language Plus.
I think Jackie uses it too. There is much more structure and relevence to the book with the activities and lessons.

No problemo. Bottom line is I may not be able to access it out here anyway. We are 1/2way through our school year & I can't afford to wait 6 ~ 8 weeks for stuff to arrive from the States. Still... there is always next year.

I try to do two TLP books a year with Rachael, but it isn't my complete language. It is weak in grammar.

I thought it was a bit weak in grammar also, so we will continue with Easy Grammar.
