Would like to chat a bit with those who mentioned that they do. If you prefer to privately please just email me thru my profile if you want to? I want to do a LONG roadtrip next year and need leverage to convince DH that we will not go out of our minds! Help me get him on board?

Keep in mind we do not know how to do ANYTHING so still need to take RV 101. We traded our truck for an older 22' Winnebago so not all the new bells and whistles. Is it as hard as he makes it sound to travel cross country in an older on?

I read about Lisa (Blair from the facts of life) doing it in her blog. I'll have to lookup the address if anyone wants it.
I would think it would be fun. Most of the time you would be out of the RV anyway exploring where ever you stop. I Don't know how old your kids are but I am guessing it would be easier with schoolage over preschool.

Kris lives in a RV but they are gone home now to their parents for a trip. Maybe when she gets back she can help you.

We have wanted to take a long summer trip in an RV. So I would also be very interested in learning what everyone does.

Yes, Like Lorna said I live in a RV and have for over 2 years and love it alot. Don't know if I want a house yet or not. It's alot of fun we have seen and been to over 32 states and still counting. Been and seen so much it's not funny. The girls learn so much and when you go place and people hear you hs them they are so good with them and take them under there wings and do so much more with them. Like when we were in AZ for 2 months we were by the indian place they took the girls under there wings and showed them so much. There is so much to see and do in RV and the things you learn are out of this world and so much fun. We hs right in the RV too. It's so much fun. What all do you want to know? Just ask away.

RVing is my dream!!!! I would love to go all over the country with my familly getting pics of all the corny sights! Oh and I am interested in our great american history also...uh hemmm...I just really want a pic of the three headed cow. LOL. Actually when I was a kid my parents and my brother and I drove from Ohio to Colorado. We stopped at some crazy farm for deformed animals. lol. Seriously, we did. I saw a cow with five legs. Now, that is a trip!

Sarah: It can be as cheap and as expand as you want it to be. The only really cost you have is gas to go from place to another. Then your rent to park it. But, you can always work in parks for your rent. I do that alot. Then your rent is free.
To see things watch the local papers the place have days for discount or free days it's usually a Monday then go to all these place. If you work in park they give you alot of tickets to get into place for free too.
I guess what I am is saying it depends on on friendly you want to be, the more friendly you are and willing to help people the more you will get free. so, our really big expand is the gas.

Is yours brand new? Do you always stay in parks or do you park and run on generator often? If we are going to make it a long trip we want to be sure we can afford to is all, we would be driving from Alaska for starters, so just that part to the lower 48 is quite a haul!

Well when we are traveling from place to place we usually stay in the truck stop like Flying J's or Walmarts parking lots for the night and use the genertor for the night and go to where we are then find a park to stay at.

Lorna we are in Texas again. Have her call this afternoon
    sometime.

How do you get internet? Is it a newer one? I wonder if it will make a huge difference traveling for a long time in an older one, hmm. Have you been in Canada or AK ?

I don't have any experience with this but my hubby's aunt and uncle live in a very nice RV, are both retired, and do nothing but travel. I would love it, I think, or at least for some time I would. I love to travel.

Well the net, we go by the wireless and you can get it almost every where you go. You have to buy a wireless card from wal mart or best buy and put it in your computer then where you part they usually have wireless. Truck stop do all the time. You might have to get a pass word at some of the places to get on but we only had that at one place.

How old is your rig? We have a older rig and it hasn't stop us one bit. No haven't been to Canada but have friends that have, they say it's great.
