    Used Books

What brand of curriculum are you looking for? I tried to find used books a couple time but didnt have much success in finding newer versions all the same brand and in good condition. Someone gave us some but they were quite outdated. So we always just went on abeka and bought new.

Checked out the new curriculum for this year. It is amazing how expensive it gets but so worth every penny. We are up to $1400.00 for the new school year.

Oh we couldn't afford that right now with hubby off work the whole month of May and working only part time right now trying to get him better. There is no way we can afford it. So wanted to look for any kind of use and good books/cd in anything. Let me know if you all have any. Not to high

Kris, I don't know if you can reach anyone at the school district yet (we can't here), but you might try to talk to the school librarian. They may have some duplicate books to discard, or sometimes teachers get "teacher edition" books to try out, and if they don't buy the student editions they don't need the teachers anymore. I have several health and literature teachers editions- for a homeschool situation they work fine to read the main subject matter out of the middle of the page, and the other lesson plans are lined up around the perimeter. I will keep an eye out for you around here as school gets started. Does your homeschool association have a "used swap" each fall?

    Good luck searching...

Did your try your library, Kris? I got Hougton-Mifflin stuff there, and I've seen other companies, too. Go to your library's site and type in, say, 5th grade math curriculum. A bunch of stuff should come up. Maybe your library has a state wide search sevice like ours has.

Ours even has a service where you fill out an online assignment form and they pull resources for you.

Kris, if you'll give more specifics about what you need I'll search my library, and tell you what you could try to look for at yours. Ours has 106 titles for algebra alone!
Be specific- what subjects and grade levels, and anything else in particular. Hopefully you can h.s. for nearly free this year!!

    Kris,

In that case, use your library! Ours has a bunch of neat history and science stuff that you could use--experiemnts, biographies, stories about different wars, and hostorical places and people, books on science experiments (there's a TON of those!!!), etc. They could do experimtns, reports, research papers, and all sorts of stuff!

    Best wishes!

    Kris,
If you're interested, I have some stuff you might could use. For 5th grade I have BJU Heritage Studies, BJU science, SRA math, SRA spelling, and some reading anthologies.
For 7th grade I have BJU World Studies, BJU Literature, BJU Math, and Apologia General Science.

I would let you have any of the 5th grade stuff if you will just pay the shipping on it. You can also have the 7th grade history and literature, but I will probably need to ask something for the math and science as I bought it new just last year. I have some 6th grade curriculum too if you think you could use it (same as 5th grade).

Let me know what you think. I also need to check with a lady at church who was looking into hsing. I told her she could have the 7th grade stuff, but I think she's decided against hsing. I just need to check to be sure.
