I know, I know. Intelligent woman takes powerful position (I happen to think being the First Wife is a powerful position) and all I can do is yammer about her outfit but still...

    What did you all think?

I loved it. A bit of a weird colour but one that takes a bit of guts to wear. Simple but sophisticated I thought.

But I didn't much care for Mrs Biden's knee high boots. A bit naughty, those.

I think Michelle could have worn pjs and looked
    sophisticated.LOL

The outfit alone was so-so. But on her, she made it look classy. Michelle Obama carries herself very well.

You know when she was walking into church this morning I thought man that is a bit ummmm flashy for a morning church survice. It looked very glittery, but now I think it was just the morning lighting because when I saw them watching the parade I could see the beautiful detail of the dress and it is a fabulous one!

ps.. I am more of a tshirt and jeans kind of gal myself, and really could care less about fashion.

I will say a "yea" on the outfit. I think it was very smart to chose an outfit to keep her warm without having to wear a bulky parka. :)

I LOVED Michelle's dress. She looked so very classy.

I also LOVED Mrs. Biden's boots BUT did not like them at all on her in that outfit. I have knee high, high heeled, black leather boots I love to wear. However I didn't find them appropriate for this occasion or with her outfit. She didn't look anywhere near as classy or sophisticated as the First Lady. Not even in the same ball park. Nope.

Maybe that's what bugged me. Not the boots but the boots with that outfit on that occasion.

    No tomotoes from me.:D

I think what Michelle or/and her stylist is doing is nice though. A lot of her outfits, like the one she wore to the balls which I'm on the fence about, are from up and coming American designers and they seem to be treating her wardrobe as an opportunity to showcase them. We don't often think of fashion as an industry but it is and she is playing a role in it. I also like that most of their clothes (her's and the kids) are from J. Crew.

Two other things though. I adore the way the Obamas are obviously in love and aren't wary of touching, whispering, etc. in public. I've never seen a presidential or prime ministerial couple like that and it's refreshing.

And...Although I'm no George Bush fan I think Laura Bush is wonderful. I saw her grey outfit yesterday and my first thought was not kind and I thought she looked like she was in mourning. I smartened up though. I now think it was so understated because she was graciously passing the limelight on to the new First Lady. She's a gracious and considerate woman and I should have assumed that in the first place.

I liked the suit she wore (Michelle Obama) but the ballgrown I hated. But, hey, we all have different taste. She carries herself very well...so I am not saying she looked ugly. She looked great...I just didn't like the ballgown.

I agree with Ava Rose. The suit was very nice. The ball gown, no. I don't think it would have looked good on anyone, at least in the picture on that website that was shared above.

I am not a fan of President Obama's politics, but I really agree with this. I noticed this a while back. They are very cozy with each other.

I think this was part of the reason she wore what she did.
At the same time, Laura Bush is classic. She is from a different era that is more conservative. A classic look really suits her.

I didn't say I didn't like her outfits, I just was saying with money and jobs so hard to find they should think about all the money they put in those outfits that could feed people who need it.. I understand it is putting some designer to work and I hope and pray it does... we need something that will help.

I'm going to go against the "crowd" I didn't like either choice she made. I did not liket the yellow green outfit, those really green shoes & gloves made me cringe. I didn't mind the color, but did not like the print when I saw it closer up.

The ball dress was just weird to me.

Of course I didn't like the outfit she wore the nite he won the election either.

Hopefully she'll get some help making better choices.
