I can smell the coffee already!

I can't wait for HSM2...my dh makes fun of me because I talked about seeing it and the kids haven't. lol. I liked that Jump In movie with Corbin Bleu also. lol...funny how I can enjoy kid movies. I guess that is a nice change from having to watch Cinderella 5 times a day. lol. I am also glad that some movies I really want to see like National Treasure, Pirates, and star Wars my kids can watch. Welll, not the 2 year old...she can't sit still for anything. lol

That brings up an off topic point....my first two kids are close in age so they always had the same rules and could watch the same things. However, now I have a 2 year old. I would never have allowed my 2 year old to watch Spongebob...though I love it...because it is just stupid and meaningless. However, my 2 year old has seen it..and knows who Spongebob is because of older siblings. I am afraid I will forget to monitar her better because I am so out of practice.

    Ok...enough rambling.

    Please pass the coffee thermos!

We liked the Jump In movie at our house too. Fun music, and the ability of some of those pro jumpers- wow!

Someone asked about the High School Musical- it was a Disney TV movie which became a worldwide hit. It has had a concert tour, public schools are lining up to use it as a musical in the coming years, and apparently there is an ice show planned as well. Now they are using the same characters, bonded together, to have a different musical story line for the second one, due out in August on Disney Channel tv. You can probably rent the movie at your local video store if you are curious.

One more thing about Veggie Tales (and it has been quite some time since we watched one- I think it was King George and the Ducky)- I am not trying to ignore any trivialization of God's Word. We are trying to raise our sons to be grounded in the true Word of God. Maybe that's why I am a little upset about the version being run on tv right now- they have taken out any biblical reference and now it is "just" a silly cartoon of talking vegetables. Vegetables with good morals, but not really a "Christian" show for the kids to glean anything from.

Okay, still making sense???? lol I think I need more chocolate....

    MT3

Oh, and Ava Rose- I understand about being a little more lenient with the little one, but we are working at keeping the same standards for all of them!

Oldest DS wants to know if anyone has seen "The Last Mimzy" (sp?), and what did you think of it?

    Thank you, MT3

(And Ava Rose, maybe I don't mean "lenient" per se, I hope you know what I meant!)

    MT3...I know what you mean!

I agree with your VT assessement...the one on tv. I love King George and the Ducky. I don't think that trivializes God's word because...ok...get ready...I maybe splitting hairs...it is like a story to explain the real one and the real concepts to kids. It never claimed to portray David as much as it was a kid way of explaining David...maybe I need a microscopic axe, ah? I just didn't see that one the same.

I have not seen "The Last Mimzy".

Okay, here I am coming in from the kitchen with brownies and strawberries. Brownies with cut-up strawberries on top are one of my fave things in the world!

I am enjoying reading these thoughts still. I haven't seen HS Musical or Mimzy, so I can't comment on those, though. But I am absorbing what's being said and forming thoughts and ideas. Just don't have any great opinions to add at this point---but I'm at least in the room now! :D

I took both of my dd's (9 and 11 yrs old) to see the Last Mimzy.
I loved it and so did my girls! We even got 2 free mimzy doll keychains when we went to a sneak preview of it.
Its about how the "doll" Mimzy (its alive) needs to get "pure" DNA from humans in the past ( before humans turn on each other to the point of destruction, the scientist sent 5 Mimzies into the past, only 1 is left).
Very scifi , "magic" is involved but I tell ya...I cried so hard through this movie!!
It is very touching and really makes you think about the future.

Just have to say we LOVE Veggie Tales in this house. Tanner has seen about every single one. It's SUPPOSE to use humor and "symbolism", that's what makes it entertaining, and personally, I don't see anything wrong with making something more entertaining if it means my child will learn something from it and get something more out of it. I don't think they fictionalzie the stories so much as they just bring it down to a child's level so they will understand the stories a little better and help keep their attention better...something 3-6 year olds have a hard time doing sometimes. ;) :D So, yeah, Joshua and his men didn't get slushies thrown at them while walking around the wall, but that is what symbolism is about and making it more entertaining for their age. I would think God has a sense of humor as big as ours. :D Even if my child just learns how to be friendly to others by watching them, then it is worth it. Because it is just as important to learn how to be a proper example of a Christian (proper ethics and morals) as it is to know the stories in the Bible. :D JMO!

I would love to partake of the strawberries and brownies and even the peach cobbler I made earlier but do to dental issues I sadly can not.

I'm just going to sit here and enjoy the smell.

    Carry on.
