Just read this thread, Jen and I'm sorry this happened. I hope they catch them. Taking something that someone else worked for is so disgusting--they deserve to have their hands cut off. Feeling this vulnerable and violated is just awful. . .my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Did they check the soda cans and the ammo box for prints. It is unlikely that that box of ammo was bought while wearing gloves.

I am so sorry. I haven't been on in several days and I missed this. Be so thankful as you said that you and the kids were not going down at the moment. I am most concerned if you got the apartment door lock changed?????? For your safety that is first.

I've been away from the computer for too long & am just now reading this. I'm so sorry to read of the crime & just as sorry to see that some of those who are hired to protect us can't or won't do their jobs. The children will be learning some life-long lessons as they see you coping. The Lord really did protect you, & I'm so grateful for that!

I JUST SAW THIS! I haven't been on the last few days much. OMGOOODNESSSSS!!!!

I am praying for you and your family. Not just for the physical situation, but for the emotional.

About 4 years ago, we were robbed. I remember how long it took for the feeling of "safe" to return after that.

I am praying for you. Wishing I could do more.

Jen, How are things going with you and your family? Did you find anything new out? Like did they get the people that did?

Once again, I am beside myself with gratitude!

We did discover that they took the van for a joy ride along the banks of a stocked lake, in front of our property, and that our bikes and seats were in the lake. But the lake is too deep and it has been long enough that the property is beyond damage. The bikes were RAN OVER! And busted up. (WHat is WRONG with people????)

Also, no prints could be recovered due to the amount of gasoline they poured all into the vehicle. However, they were able to determine that the "Kids?" did fire their gun(s) because of residue. (OMG!)

But the news is YOU and my homeschool group frineds. What can I say besides thank you!

There is nearly every profession represented in our homeschool group, here near me. And I had legal advice, insurance advice, and one couple who (After asking of course) came and took the van and will be helping to handle all the insurance issues at their body shop.

Some one also anonamously dropped off towo booster seats for the kids.... WOW.

I remember last year, when we lost our home due to taxes and I just knew our happy family was headed for dark and sad times . . . . . . . . . and then I discovered that it was for the best, as we have had more fun as a family than ever possible before, now that we live where we do, so close to daddy's job!

ANd through your prayers and some thinking, I figured it out that God said, "OH! So you want me to show you how many REAL friends you REALLY have? Ok, HERE!"

And right now, I feel to wonderfull and at peace to ever feel sad, mad or depressed! How wonderful is God?

Last night, me and the babies drove over to pick up Daddy at his building as they got ready for tonights STYX concert (Yes, the old rock band) and we had so much fun! It is just that for what seems like no reason, we are just liberated from fear or loneliness, once again. ANd I am sure your prayers have helped put us at peace.

    How can I thank you?

Here are some pics from last night....

I'm so glad your spirits have been lifted!!!!

When things go wrong in life and the stress piles itself on your shoulder and then God comes through and shows you how great life really is with family and friends around you who care..........now that's a cool feeling.

    Hi sweets!
    Thanks for the concern...

    The story so far...
(Sorry for the vinegar in my words, I am lit, right now about this...)

No, I do not have my Van back, yet.
I had to hand this over to my husband to deal with because I am waaay to emotional to deal with the insurance company at this point....

My husband says the insurance company came by the shop (Where the van is) took one look at it on the outside, glanced on the inside and said, "We're are not going to total this." Then left.

We were told they would replace the enterior carpet and the missing row seat, but otherwise, nothing.

So, of course, I piped up, "WHAT ABOUT THE MOTOR, the TRANSMISSION, The WHEELS, the UNDERBELLY?????"

Sorry, they did not even turn it on, nor do they plan too.....

    ?????????????
    ????????????????????
    ???????????????????????

Ok, so a vehicle is made to LOOK AT?????
I'm sorry! I thought a vehicles MAIN purpose was to DRIVE. Silly me!

You would think that the FIRST thing the insurance would want to know is "Does it run?, THEN and only SECOND to a running motor, would be the "LOOKS" of the vehicle.... AAARRGGHHHH!!

I feel like the "Small Businessman" on the desk of the big bank in that loan commercial, where the small tiny man catches on fire....

Our deducable is $500, of which we have nothing... The insurance says, well it should be about $650 to fix this.... Of which they pay $150, we pay $500.... hmmmm....

If the guy who has my van (A fellow homeschooling family) can get it on the road for $499, guess who is going to get the money?. EXACTLY! I would rather give HIM the money, than use the insurance company and have them involved in anyway.

Over ten years, we have carried FULL coverage, even on my saturn, which is paid off, which means full coverage is NOT required. But I thought, as a parent, I was doing the responsable thing, financially.... WRONG!

I have wasted $18,000.00 in unnessasary insurance. I could have better invested that money into a new Grand Caravan with a security system!

And for all of this, I get $150 and no one cares if the dayng motor runs, or if the transmission falls out, on the way home....

The insurance guy says, well if that happens, just call us and we can start a "NEW CLAIM"! WHich of course means MORE MONEY FOR ANOTHER $500 deductable!!

    What a SCAM!

Oh, and this is FARMERS INSURANCE!
    RUN FROM THEM!

OH! And you want to hear another current story of service???
We are in bankruptcy, due to a mix up with a 1099 and our taxes from last year. That one difference, took away our earned income child credit on ALL THREE kids and trippled our taxes due. WHen we got that notice, the debt we were trying (LIKE GOOD PEOPLE) to pay off (MEDICAL DEBT< THANK YOU), was impossible to pay off, while we lived in our trailer with mold and mildew from a bad A/C that died two years before. WE lived with no heat, no A/C in Texas weather.... we were all sick, so we got out under bankruptcy. Because the tax man WILL get his money, no matter what you do.. And bankruptcy does not eliminate tax debt. But the tax bill left not room to pay off the debt, and that would have ruined our credit anyway, and we would have been stuck in the trailer that we could not sell......

Our lawyer bill is $200 a month for 6 months... plus the filing fee of $500, plus the $100 for the two certificates you have to get. Get this....

WHen I completed the first certificate, I called the lawyers' office to insure that they recieved the email. They were SOOOO ANOYED that they had to stop and check, but yes, it is here... sigh....

THREE months ago I completed the other certificate and our bankruptcy was waiting for discharge..... I got the certificate days after the 341 meeting..... I was not about to call the office for fear of getting chewed out....
    Guess what???

THEY NEVER GOT IT and NOTHING WAS FINISHED!

SO I call and ask, "What is the status of my case?" They were REALLY anoyed that I called and said that they had not recieved the certificate yet. "WERE YOU GING TO WAIT FOREVER< OR SEND ME A NOTE AT SOME POINT>>>>??? HellllooooO??!!!

She replied, "No ma'am, we have too many clients to keep up with everyone...."

    I hung up.

I'm waiting for the apartments to find a reason to kick us out, even though we have not broken any rules, and have paid our rent on time, every month....

No one, whom we hired to do a job, has helped.

So, I have issues right now..
Sorry for blabbing but I am sooo mad, and I feel VERY impotent. I had to hand it to my husband.

OH! And we received a notice from the county that we still owe them back taxes for the house from last year. even though we moved in march. I give up.
